Who's to say the mascot wasn't joining him in prayer? Though they may be praying about different things. Religion and prayer can be funny that way.. In the end it shouldn't have been a big deal one way or the other.

On the law. The willingness of US citizens to break US is law, is the temptation that those who enter the US illegally succumb to. Most who enter seek to work, as long as they find those more than willing to hire them, you can't stem the tide unless are willing to become subhuman. Raid the places of employment deport those here illegally, arrest those who hired them fine them to the point of extreme hurt. Prison terms will cost us more money we don'thave.

Oh well in time, in the USA, we will practically every domination split into a "traditional" and non-traditional" branches. Quotes used because, they all have rationalized separating from the first Christian church in the West. All the first Christians, had to rationalize their separation from Judaism. Some Christians, Jews, Muslims, have all rationalized creating another sect, whenever they are dissatisfied with the current one. Shrug...

No doubt there will come a day when there will be 2 denominations of the Church of Christ-USA. In that there are so many Christian denominations today today, each will be equally valid. No doubt members of both will continue to practice using the Bible cafeteria style to convince themselves there own sin is not as bad as the others sin is.

I would think It very tough to find inside the USA persons qualified to do the actual translation. Even in English the Bible has language that's difficult to sort through. English has been the de facto business language for some time, the international phonetic alphabet was design to help English, and non English speaking persons to exchange pertinent information, so I'm not sure the pool of expertice is as large as Wycliffe hopes it is. But credit goes to them for trying first. Peace

A clash needn't be inevitable, but Christians in the West may end up making it so. Mostly because they think there is a too high a price to pay for peace. For all their posturing, they are reluctant to put their faith in their God that He will safely see them, and their descendants through rough times to live until the true end comes.

Reads like moral ambiguity, still abounds. I don't recall so many comments to an article flagged as inappropriate. Be nice to have an option to see the comments to judge for oneself. Truth be told the members of the club may be better off getting their education elsewhere, and worship with a congregation not associated with a school. That plan has served many well in the past, and will continue to do so.

Judging by the full video and the statements by the US veteran of Desert Storm that filmed it, who knows how this will finally fall out? Lying about the Pat Tillman/ Jessica Lynch situations, the toppling of the Saddam statue, the abuses at POW prisons in both Afghanistan/Iraq. The Army leadership should learn the phrase no comment, and eventually allow the facts speak for themselves eventually, leave the lying up to the politicians.

Here in the USA there must be countless acres owned by churches that could help feed the poor, and help those who aren't eat healthier. By planting fruit trees and shrubbery and allowing some to plant Vegetable gardens. Church groups could offer to plant/maintain fruit trees on city owned property. There is no excuse for anyone to go hungry here in the USA

As a grade school Sudent we where taught taking care of what God has provided for us, was a virtue. By the time we reached high school, it became apparent as Adults, the virtues we sort of where taught as children don't apply when they get in the way of what we want or making a dollar. No not public school, but in religious education. As I grew older I recognized this is typical across most faiths. Sigh

Political Correctness is being used as a whipping boy. Many denominations where created long before PC became terminology. Most faiths/denominations practice of PC of sorts before use of the term, and are still at it. That's thing about faith, it's just that faith. While it's important to it's adherents a particular faith can't go no further than that.

After that first split from the Roman Catholic Church, there where several generations of splits. Basing a political party on a single faith at first glance should provide cohesiveness, but in the end it may fracture the arty. No matter what their faith or political stripes few Americans are going to put up with any one who seeks to control their lives based on the faith of those seeking to control. Schmidt was speaking about the survival of a political party, not the survival of the Christian faith

The poor people of Afghanistan are between a rock & hard place. On one hand they have the US military attacking gatherings of innocent civilians trying to terrorize them into turning in the Taliban, On the other hand they have the Taliban slitting the throats of anyone who assists the US. To top that off there are those Christians in the US who are willing to remain ignorant to what's being done in their name,as apposed to seeing what's going one and demanding that their elected officials put a stop to it.
