How ironic. I seem to remember when citizens of the southern states thought that school integration imposed by courts was taking away majority rule. Does Mr. Jackson think the majority of southerners would have voted to integrate schools back in the sixties

Schools should teach about religion, all religions of the world- Hinduism, Islam, Christian, Judaism, Buddhism, Baha'i, Shinto, Rastafarianism, Scientology, Mormonism, etc. However, religion has no place in the science classroom

So it doesn't bother any of you people that this is just a publicity stunt to vilify liberals and scare up some conservative votes for the school board this fall? These clowns know exactly what is going to happen: first, their school district will become the laughingstock of the nation, then they'll throw away a lot of your tax dollars losing a lawsuit, then they'll all get re-elected. You are all getting seriously played by these creationist thugs. These people want to cram their ideology down your throat. There's a reason they aren't calling it a "scientific freedom" bill but a "religious freedom" bill- because their anti-science agenda is strictly religious with the intent of needlessly mingling the government's schools with the religion of an extremist conservative minority

you can respect someone and disagree with them? what a novel idea! i hope all the christians read and take this to heart. to disagree does not require anger and vile words.
“yes, we are commanded to love our neighbors, but the Bible never once mentions that our salvation depends on that.” here we have the basic misunderstanding of scripture that leads to division in christians. you claim that gays cannot enter into heaven because they violate gods law. yet Jesus said “love god above all else and love your neighbor as yourself. to do this is fulfill the whole of the law.” so do you really think your behavior towards others will not effect your salvation or that it is nonessential in overall salvation? i think this verse disagrees with you. the idea that someone is 'right with god' in their overall behavior in such a way that makes them acceptable to god is heresy. no one’s behavior is going to get them into heaven and yet that is what you preach. You quote scripture 'lest any man should boast' while boasting that you are right with god and the above are not, that your behavior is acceptable when a gay's is not, that your view of the bible is more perfect than others. do you know what boasting means? to say that someone else is 'not right with god' in their overall behavior when clinging to the same name of Jesus and in the same way with merely one doctrinal difference in the idea of appropriate human behavior is blasphemy. the only difference between your faith and the faith as spoken of above is the acceptance of gays. one wonders why you tolerate catholic’s on these pages when their list of 'sins' is greater than the one action spoken here. one wonders why being gay is worse than worshipping idols, having a pope, believing the book of mormon is inspired of god, that only 144,000 are going to heaven (jehovah witness), or that you sin by worshipping on sunday. you accept all of these into your fold. but not a church that says it is okay to be gay? do you understand the term ‘hypocritical’?
Dreamer: Anyone who rejects scripture of any kind is incapable of knowing truth Leviticus 20:13 So those who reject the death penalty for gay sex are incapable of knowing truth?

Flagged as inappropriate. show We all have missed, one of the greatest political leaders of this generation. He and his family have to be always remembered for their service for humanity, especially for the poor and underprivileged. Senator per AS Mathew "Kennedy took the lead in re-writing the old immigration policy which gave opportunity mainly for the immigrants from Europe, but he could open a wide door for the people of Asian and all other countries to land in America; in the land of opportunity and great freedom. Senator Kennedy will be always remembered for his selfless service for America. We lost a great person who can't be replaced. God bless him, rest in peace" hide

Flagged as inappropriate. show Jehovanissi- from your post - "Very often in the Bible, when Israel is under tyrannical rule, it was a single man (or woman) a "Judge" (hence the book's title, Judges) that rose up and did justice among the people" That sounds much more like a description of a vigilante than a group trying to bring about a legislative change. hide
Flagged as inappropriate. show Jehovaman- Although you claim that I hint at "individual vigilantism", I want to reiterate the fact that all I did was teach what the Holy Bible says about criminal justice. That's all. It appears to me that you've got a problem with what the Bible says about crime and how it should be punished... I do indeed have a problem with what you and your holy book supposedly says about crime and punishment when it promotes vigilantes taking the law into their own hand becoming judge, jury and, in Tiller's case, executioner. You are incredibly naive (or blantantly dishonest) to think what you have written both justifies and encourages murder of those who do not subscribe to your moral and ethical codes. Frankly I see little difference between you and the Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Sikhs, pagans, and every other religious adherent that has killed in the name of their own divine truth. hide

On our own we are little more than bits of stone and glass. Together we are the Body of Christ. Holy Bible: Mosaic is an invitation to experience Christ in His Word and in the responses of his people. Each week, as you reflect on guided Scripture readings aligned with the church seasons, you will receive a wealth of insight from historical and contemporary writings.
