Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. (JN 8:32)
Jacobs has it wrong. It was punishment for California voters passing proposition 8. After all, California suffered tsunami damage in the aftermath of the Japanese earthquakes. Massachusetts, which has embraced gay marriage, has felt no effects from the earthquake. Clearly God is speaking in favor of gay marriage.
"A national survey reveals that most voters, except for evangelicals, will be little influenced by moral issues such as abortion and gay marriage when picking a candidate." Interesting insight into evangelical thinking - Most other thoughtful people consider education, poverty, the environment, employment fairness and health care to be moral issues also. "But if Christianity were based on a flawed foundation then it would have not lasted this long. " Very weak argument, but one that is often made. Perhaps everyone should consider Buddhism or Hinduism. Both of them pre-date Christianity by a very long time and still exist.

The wife in this case simply decided to ignore prior agreements and court orders significantly impacting the father's parental right and decision making responsibility. The court was absolutely correct in its judgement. There was nothing bogus about it. The only bogus issue is that this was somehow a matter of religious preference.less
I read the Court's decision and have followed the case for a long time. The father has been actively involved with the child since birth - including her education. The current matter arose because the mother no longer wished to follow their prior agreement which allowed for home schooling as well as some public school classes. The court's decision is available for anyone to read, and makes clear t...more

So what really is the answer to this type of problem? There have been many (false) claims about so called death panels in the recent health reform legislation. Yet private health insurance companies seem to actually employ death panels, like in this case. Any thoughts????
While I support the idea of gay marriage, I recognize there are some arguments to be made against it - without resorting to misinformation or outright lies like Max is fond of doing. Take the David Parker case. He was not arrested for telling his child anything about homosexuality. He was arrested for refusing to leave a school building long after the school day ended. Take the David Parker case. He was not arrested for telling his child anything about homosexuality. He was arrested for refusing to leave a school building long after the school day ended. It does not take much research to verify what happened. He was arrested at 6:24 in the evening. Parker chose to engage in civil disobedience and endured the consequences as many others have. But his arrest had nothing to do with what he said about homosexuality like Max claims. Someone tell Max he is not doing his cause any favors by lying and exaggerating.less
I did a little research about the Boissoin case and (big surprise) Max is not telling the whole story. In a very Phelps like ruling, Boissoin's vile accusations were found to be protected and he was fined nothing and is allowed to continue his hate filled ranting. Do a little homework Max and quit relying on hysterical evagelical sound bites and half truths.
I never could understand how German "Christians" could rationalize the slaughter of millions of Jews, Gypsies and other "subhumans." Obviously it was God's will and they were only submitting to the government like good little sheep should.

"Here are a few: Starbucks, Microsoft, Nike, Google, Dell, American Airlines, and a whole lot more. Imagine what would happen if Christians, who have at least ten times the numbers of the homosexual community, were to start boycotting them?" Actually "Christian" organizations have been calling for boycott of these any many other companies for a long time. Among the others are Disney, Levi Strauss, Ford and CVS pharmacies. Come on Chuck, you are crying crocodile tears and are fooling nobody.. hide

This in article by a right wing nut who has complained falsely that national health care reform would take away the right of medical decisions to be made but doctors and patients now sides with the medical opinion of an ideologically driven bishop who has absolutely no medical expertise. When a patient's life is on the line I will go with sound medical advice and skip the advice of the local bishop, pastor or other religionist.less

However, despite Schaefer’s apparent interest in evolution, given his relationship with the anti-evolution movement, I have never seen him at any of our evolutionary biology seminars, which involve major scientists of the discipline. In actually, he is nothing but a devoutly religious and conservative chemistry professor who has no professional experience in evolutionary biology and, as far as I can tell, takes absolutely no advantage of the resources the campus has in the discipline. His objections to evolution are nothing but religious motivated incredulity."
Written by someone with first hand knowledge of Schaefer ...seems like the anti-evolution folks cannot even present solid evidence about creationist proponents, let alone solid evidence for creationism.less
"To prove this point, he announced the company would not publicly endorse agendas on marriage or family. However, he said it would continue to give resources to programs that strengthen marriages and families." This pretty much sums up where Chickfila is coming from. They want it both ways. Sounds like a well thought out marketing plan more than principled stand.
