I know what the US Constitution says, and it's not about tolerance. The US Constitution sets the boundary between the people and governement, reminding the government what they can and cannot do to the people. Believe it or not, the consitution protects me and my right to believe as I choose and to say what I want before it protects anyone else. That first amendment guarantees my right to disagree with homosexuality and be vocal about it and it trumps and defeats anyone with a suit and tie that would try to shut me up. This American idea of Tolerance can't be upheld by the Consitution without violating the first amendment because Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Religion are the principles on which this nation was founded.

Social tolerance can't be preached in the church because it's not biblical. Our American idea of tolerance is apathy and a complete absense of prayer. Tolerance is the word of the world, not the Word of God. It's great that he's coming clean about his struggles, but you're not a step closer to defeating those struggles if you won't call sin what it is: sin. His sin is between him and God, but when you decide to shepherd a flock, your sin can become your flock's downfall. Your sin is your business, and only your business, when you're not dragging anyone down with you. He has a responsibility to his congregation and to God to speak love and TRUTH, and he can't speak TRUTH if he can't see his errors for what they are. Hypocrisy doesn't belong in the pulpit. Yes, all those things he listed are abominations, but I've seen pastors struggling with infidelity and other sexual (non-homosexual) sins step down from their positions in order to rehabilitate and restore their spirit and their relationship with God. The key word here is "responsibility."
