I am personally quite excited about this event, as a church history major, I think it is monumental. It seems that many involved with the SBC have posted they believe this event is making a political. I could be wrong, but I feel the SBC is making a political move in not attending.

I feel that this an issue that the church as a whole will have to deal with. As a Baptist myself, I see this issue coming to the forefront of our church. I feel it is a difficult place to be in. Christ commands us to love all people, but we are also called as a church to call out sin. Christ does this. Paul explains it is the duty of the church. So I find us in a place, how do we love the sinner, but not condone the sin? But the church also has a problem with attaching a level of severity to sins. The book of James makes it clear that all sins are the same. No one sin is worse than another. So, should we include pictures of families living together out of wedlock? Or what about that guy that was divorced and remarried? Or the family where a spouse is involved in pornography? Where do we draw the line? I am struggling not with the sin, but how the church should handle sinners.
On our own we are little more than bits of stone and glass. Together we are the Body of Christ. Holy Bible: Mosaic is an invitation to experience Christ in His Word and in the responses of his people. Each week, as you reflect on guided Scripture readings aligned with the church seasons, you will receive a wealth of insight from historical and contemporary writings.
