It is heartening to see so many people supporting Coca Cola. Coca Cola respects persons of all persuasions, including members of the GLBT community. The following is from the Coca-Cola corporate website:
"The Coca-Cola Gay and Lesbian Forum fosters an equitable work environment where gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) employees can feel a sense of community within our Company." So keep drinking Coke.

Flagged as inappropriate. show I think this was a good ruling. It doesn't hurt any church or any religion to keep references to a god out of offical state security documents. To protect religious freedoms, the "separation of church and state" must go both ways. In other words, if we promise to keep government from meddling in churches, we must also promise to keep churches from meddling in our government hide
Believer - interesting thought you had. So women's physiology evolved from the original design to what exists today.

Daniel Paul - Wrong, religion is at the very heart of the ACLU's action. You need to do a littel homework here and stop buying into propaganda about the ACLU. The ACLU has long defended individuals, families, and religious communities who wish to manifest their religion in public Particularly when compared to other industrialized democracies, religion plays a prominent role in American public life. Churches, synagogues, mosques, temples, cathedrals, and Gurdwaras are plainly visible in the public sphere and their right to display religious symbols and to construct religious edifices is protected by the Constitution and by statutes.
Homoousia - this kind of press???? Just what kind of press do are you talking about? Outside of CP, this story has gotten virtually no press. There is almost nothing at all even on Google news - a total of about 7 stories and there are all local Florida news outlets.

abishalyoung - you are only confused because you have bought into the proganda that frequently shows up in articles on this website about the ACLU. The ACLU is not anti religion, anti conservative, anti evangelical, or anti fundamentalist Christian. It is for defending the rights of all as guaranteed in the constitution. It doesn't matter if it involves the rights of the majority of population, a small segment of the population or even a single individual. Do your own homework and find out what the ACLU is about an don't rely on website like this one to tell you. You may be surprised to learn who really has an agenda that wants to put the rights of some ahead of everyone else.
Diana - well said, enough said.
Chuck Colson is once again doing what he seems to do best, stirring up fear and hysteria by reporting half truths and present outright misleading information. Colson insinuates that somehow English churches will be forced to hire gay youth ministers. Not only is he pandering to those who wrongly believe that gays are by nature pedophiles, he is flat out lying about churches being forced to hire a minister in accordance with England's proposed anti-discrimination law. "Churches, synagogues, mosques and others will continue to have the freedom to choose who they employ in jobs which promote their religion." That is what the article Colson was referring to actually says.

Chas and Believer: Do a little more research. Only the Diocese of Massachusetts, which is primarily the greater Boston area got out of the adoption business - and it complained loud and long about the lack of state funding. In southeastern Massachusetts, the Diocese of Fall River has for decades provided and continues to provide adoption services and is self funded.

Mr. Colson has gone beyond merely shading the truth and has crossed over into what can charitably be called deliberate misinformation at best and outright lies intended to spread fear and alarm. Just one example - the state of Massachusetts did not tell Catholic Charities to "accept homosexual couples in their adoption service, or get out of the adoption business." What the state actually said was Catholic Charities had to abide by state anti discrimination laws in order to receive public funds. Catholic Charities chose not to accept public funds and the Catholic Church also chose not use its own funds to support its adoption services. (perhaps they needed the money to pay off victims of priest sex abuse) It was never a question of gay marriage but of money. By the way, Catholic Charities in Massachusetts placed 13 children with same sex couples before getting out of the adoption business. Most, if not all, of those adoptions were with unmarried gay couples. I have never seen a good explanation of why gay couples were deemed fit parents at one time, then suddenly became unfit. Nor have I ever seen evidence that children raised by gay parents were somehow harmed. On the contrary I know some children raised by gay parents and they are quite successful, productive and sexually straight adults.

Hey folks, time to get a grip on reality here. Trump does not care about liberals, conservatives, gay or straight issues. The Donald is focused exclusively on making a buck. The former Miss California had gotten more press than any Miss USA loser - or winner for that matter - ever has. That publicity made her a very saleable commodity and Trump would not dump her as long as there was money to be made. There was no nefarious gay/liberal plot involved. She was not performing (generating the profits) per her agreement.

It seems like the White House has been in the business of defending Islam against its critics for a while. The following is an earlier presidential quote about Islam. "Some of the comments that have been uttered about Islam do not reflect the sentiments of my government or the sentiments of most Americans. Islam, as practiced by the vast majority of people, is a peaceful religion, a religion that respects others...."

"If our culture is going to survive we must all agree to adhere to the rule of law and keep our disagreements, no matter how passionate or critical, within the boundaries of reasonable protest and civil discourse."
I do not agree with you often Dr. Beam. But I whole heartedly agree with your above statement. Perhaps you should get in touch with Albert Mohler who also writes columns for this website. Mohler was clearly taking issue with Barack Obama following his Notre Dame speech when he called for civil discourse about abortion in his column "Talking about talking about abortion. He wrote in part:
"Mr. Obama went on to call for "Open hearts. Open minds. Fair-minded words." In the end, the President's comments were entirely about how Americans should discuss or debate abortion."
Perhaps you should send Mohler a copy of your column. Perhaps you can make him understand that, as the President made clear, how we talk about divisive issues is extremely important. There is little doubt that the language used by some anti-abortion activists played a role in motivating Roeder to commit cold blooded murder. You and Mohler of all people should understand that words really do matter.
Interesting - the mere mention of President Obama's name on this website usually results comments being quickly posted calling him a socialist, the anti-Christ, supporter of mass murder and worse. Yet when the President receives a compliment, the silence from the usual posters is deafening.
"the California Supreme Court sent a message that their own views-the views of a small group of elite lawyers-trumped the will of the people"
Interesting Mr. Connor. When you disagree with a court decision it is because judges are running roughshod over the people. Yet when the very same judges make a ruling you approve of, they are not so bad. The California Supreme Court in ruling to allow gay marriage and later ruling in favor of Proposition 8 was entirely consistent in upholding the rule of law. As for judges "making law" you, as an attorney, know full well that the history of our common law heritage is one of law being made by courts.
"In other words, Americans are confused."
Sorry Mr. Mohler, you are not only wrong, but are insulting the majority of the American people who do not see the world in the black and white terms you seem to. Most Americans understand that there are valid arguments supporting the right of women to have abortions in some circumstances and even more Americans respect the right of others may disagree with them and even respect the right of others to choose their own paths even if they would not.Despite your own beliefs, there is no clear concensus about abortion and there is unlikely to be one anytime soon. Fortunately that is not a problem either for most Americans. The majority of Americans can live without black and white answers to every question. Perhaps it is because most look to their faith for the strength to live without all the answers rather than looking to their faith to supply a rule book with all the answers.

Just curious - to the person who has been busy flagging MickeyC. Are you so angry that you have nothing to say in response? Or are you so weak in your faith you cannot even read another opinion? Perhaps you think your version of Christianity is too fragile to withstand questions from others. Or maybe the previous, and also flagged poster was correct, you simply have nothing worth saying.
On our own we are little more than bits of stone and glass. Together we are the Body of Christ. Holy Bible: Mosaic is an invitation to experience Christ in His Word and in the responses of his people. Each week, as you reflect on guided Scripture readings aligned with the church seasons, you will receive a wealth of insight from historical and contemporary writings.
