  • Theologian Calls New U2 Album 'Most Thoroughly Christian' Project to Date

Why do so many Christians insist on making much of and seeking to exalt U2? The long-running love affair with this group, and especially Bono, is disgusting. Bono's worldview says all major religions are equally valid. By that definition, he is not a believer in Christ alone. If you want to listen to U2's music as a Christian, so be it. But I'm sick of people trying to justify their fascination with the group by expositing their lyrics to search for some existential experience. The world would be better served if more Christians would examine and proclaim the REAL truth of Scripture instead of U2's lyrics.

Yet another example of pragmatic "results" justifying unbiblical truth. Anymore in Christendom, if something engenders good feelings about "God," then it must be of Him. Someone broken from tragedy would be much better served reading the one Book that really "is a God thing"--the BIBLE (cf. 2 Tim. 3:16)!

What a sad situation, and something we should pray about. But it's also upsetting that a "Christian" band would not have a "problem" with those who believe in Jesus. I'm not talking about disliking the person, but we should have a problem with people facing eternity without Christ!

    pgcfriend:

Al Mohler IS a sincere man who loves the truth and staunchly defends it regardless of denominational affiliation. What he said is accurate in the sense that Pentecostals and Charismatics (especially the visible leaders) allow personal experiences and "revelations" to guide them rather than the inspired Word of God.

Don't read in to his quote what's not there. Realize Mohler was asked about one specific situation in Christianity. I can assure you he would have spoken vehemently against the sin-sickness that plagues some Baptist churches known as child abuse.
