vigilantism is wrong. The government has the right (and the duty) to put to death murderers, but private people do not. The Bible says that government bears the "power of the sword" but tells us as individuals "do not seek revenge." The reason is that as individuals we are too likely to be biased or overreact.
If government fails to act justly, that does not give us the right to take up the role of judge and executioner-- unless we think it is time to overthrow the government and replace it with another, as was the case of the underground working with the Allies in WWII. You can't have it both ways. Either you work within the governmental structure, or you declare yourself an enemy of the state.

Be true to the faith "and yet" show forth compassion? As though these two were opposite? I thought being true to the faith meant obeying the commands of Jesus to do just that! Better to say, it is possible to be true to the faith and not a hypocrite.

How you can mention Mormons and Amish in the same breath? Mormons believe that God the Father and God the Son were once human men, and became gods, and that we can become gods in the same way (that is, men can, not women). Amish are essentially orthodox in their beliefs and differ from standard Christianity only in their view of government. Mormonism is not Christianity at all.

It is really a shame that other candidates, in their zeal to win, have painted Huckabee as liberal on economic issues. He is really quite conservative, if you look at his actual stands on issues or how he governed in Arkansas. What he does is adopt a lot of the language traditionally used by liberals, about being for the little guy, and not kowtowing to big business. But this is language that famous conservatives like Teddy Roosevelt used to use all the time-- it is a terrible shame that we have allowed that rhetoric to be so taken over by the left that we insist that conservatives say only how they love big business. Huckabee _Is_ that ideal compromise on the issues, if people will really look into it. Instead, they react against language of being for the little guy-- which is such a shame for Christians, who are commanded by the Bible to be concerned for the poor, even while not being unjust to the rich.
