Just out of interest, I do have a favourite atheist, in fact my favourite atheist is me, but I am partial to Sam Harris, his book Letter To A Christian Nation, is worth a look at.

Watcher, why don't honesty and athesism go together? Please, bring some evidence to the table to back this statement up. Coming to a different conclusion to you is not really evidence of dishonesty is it, id it was then you might be open to the same charge for differing from others (though I don't think you are). I shall await then until the appointed time for said evidence to be presented.

I think that what they mean is that they find it impossible to believe that people come to their own conclusions about God and therefore they must be getting their ideas due to following somebody,hence the term Dawkins atheist, because before him there were no atheists what so ever or if there were they knew their place.

Know God, know peace. No God, no peace....Who says, thats not my own experience, however I also fully accept that some with religious belief also have peace, its a strange world we live in with complicated human beings filling it. Pithy sayings look good but rarely represent human reality.

I know, its terrible that other people don't agree with (some) Christians, that is very intolerant of them to not let themselves be pushed around and want to live their lives their own way, how dare they. Lets hope this intolerance ends soon and once again people learn to do what they are told.

I don't believe there is any harm as I pointed out in my post below, as I said I benefited from studying it as literature at school, together with the other worlds faiths texts, it really helped me to put ti all into context. I'm sure you will agree that is a good thing.
