This one is easy. "Evolution is controversial" How can we look into this?

Well, how about asking the scientific community? In mean, I mean the millions of scientists - not individuals. What is the concensus?

Overwhelmingly, evolution has been accepted as proven. The problem is that it takes away the need for a 'god' to create life. If you believe in supernatural beings, this *may* be a problem - although both the Anglican church and the Vatican have accepted evolution.

The key part of this debate is the idea of a 'soul'. A lot of religious contain this idea. Its interesting to ask why. Why do humans want to feel they are more than the some of their parts?
However, once again, if you claim the existence of a 'soul' and that we need to base our behaviour on that idea - we then you need to supply prove. Simply saying 'its in my book' is not enough.

A lot of the posts here show classic christian intolerance.
"Romans 1 calls homosexuality a sin. And Jesus said marriage was between a man and a woman."

Why should we base our morals on the Bible? It was written by humans. Just because it states any specific rule - why should we consider this as reasonable behaviour?

So what is in "Romans". It doesnt inform my morals in any way. I find it very strange behaviour that religious have to refer to a book to prove their case.

Ok, Minneapolitian - you claim this....

"You and other who reject Jesus will face Him on that day and give account for your rebellion. On that day you will see how relevant He is. I will say no more to you on this issue - you are lost and undone before God and one day I hope you repent and call upon Jesus as your Lord and King!"

First thing... how do you know this? Typically believers like yourself scream "But its in the Bible" Well, so what? The bible was written by humans - how is it proof of *anything* whatsoever?!

The problem with faith, is that you claim things are true and you simply dont have to back them up. No - the bible it not evidence - it simple makes you feel good and gives you structure, meaning, hope - whatever. However, just because something appears in a book - doesnt make it true.

Second thing... atheism is about 2% of my philophy. It says what I DONT believe. However, I do believe in many things. I believe in the power of people, in democracy, in using science and evidence, in building up peoples confidence in themselves. However, I do not, cannot believe in a supernatural being - in the same way I dont believe in ghosts or unicorns.

Heres a question for you - do you believe in Brahama the Hindu god? Do you believe in Zeus the greek god? If not, why not? If you dont accept these gods into your life, what do you think will happen to you? Can you risk not praying them?!
