1. Some priests allegedly killed a shepherd who was a Christian.
2. He was on their land.
3. This could have been a retaliation or ritualistic killing.
My experience with Buddhist temples has been that they are a central part of the community and treated like a public park. Is Hindu similar? If so, the shepherd was probably not trespassing.
Was it retaliation? Based on the trend of restrictions and hate towards Indian Christians in the past few years - probably. Was it a sacrifice? Does it really matter? Murder is murder.
I paraphrase: Jesus said, "Do you expect that you are more likeable than me? If they persecuted me, they will persecute you." It's no secret that Jesus is the only way to forgiveness of sins. It's not secret that the world HATES that truth and will kill to silence it.

Each week, as you reflect on guided Scripture readings aligned with the church seasons, you will receive a wealth of insight from historical and contemporary writings.
