For every Christian who is being contentious I offer this piece of insight from one of the reformers.

"Contentious disputes arise from the fact that many think less honorably than they ought of the greatness of divine wisdom, and are carried away by profane audacity." John Calvin

We should all remember that if God wants the "Fairness Doctrine" it will happen. It is clearly His good pleasure not to reinstate it at this time. If He should will it in the future, I will still praise him for his Wisdom and glorify Him.

  • Churches Must Confront 'Moral Crisis' in World Economy, Say Church Leaders

    teddyrux »
    Tue Feb 24, 2009 1:48 pm Agree: 0   Disagree: 0

What we need are churches that are more churches that are concerned with preaching Christ's Gospel. If that happened, God would take care of the "moral crisis."

  • 10 Stupid Things That Keep Churches from Growing

    Fri Jan 16, 2009 3:30 pm Agree: 2   Disagree: 0

Here's the only reason that church's don't grow.

    1. Not preaching and teaching the whole Word of God.

  • Judge Won't Order Obama Not to Use 'God' in Oath

"So help me god". We need to know Obama's definition of god. If we look at his church membership for the last 20 years or so we'll find out that his god is the god of Black Liberation Theology. I'm sure that's the god he want's to help him.

We'll see how strong his faith is. He will get verbally attacked for being a Christian or he'll live the life of a false christian, but still claim to love Christ.

    The jury's still out.

  • Rick Warren Not Satisfied with Making Abortions 'Rare'

    teddyrux »
    Wed Dec 17, 2008 8:44 pm Agree: 3   Disagree: 2

Why do we care what Rick Warren thinks. Any man who's purpose is to create a megachurch is not advancing the Kingdom of God. He's advancing some other kingdom.

  • New ACLU President to Counter Anti-Religion 'Misimpression'

    teddyrux »
    Mon Oct 20, 2008 3:31 pm Agree: 3   Disagree: 1

The ACLU is not opposed to religion. They're opposed to Christ. He, through the Holy Spirit, convicts them of their Sin and they don't like it so they try to "silence" it. Unfortunately, their methods never work.

  • New Bibles Cater to Ever-Changing Culture

    teddyrux »
    Wed Oct 08, 2008 9:38 am Agree: 6   Disagree: 0

Personally, I'm very happy that God does not "Cater to (an) ever-changing culture". I don't think His intends His Word to either.

  • Democrats Strive to Show They Got Religion Too

    Tue Aug 26, 2008 1:22 pm Agree: 0   Disagree: 0

Both parties can have all the religion they want. Christianity is not a religion, it's a Person and that Person is the Second Person of the Trinity, our Lord, Jesus Christ.

    Argyle66,

Our job is not to get people to attend church. Scripture does not say "Go into the world and get people to attend church."

  • Joel Osteen Maintains Homosexuality as Sin

    ASMatthew

What is your Biblical basis for this statement?

"God loves a sinner but hates sin."

  • Pope Affirms Right to Convert Non-Believers to Christianity

    teddyrux »
    Mon May 19, 2008 12:22 pm Agree: 1   Disagree: 0

First: It's not a right. It's a command for our Lord. We have to share the Gospel of Christ.
Second: {For LWMS}: If you're a Christian, your Constitutional rights as a US citizen come in second place after your duties as a Christian. Christ should be the most important thing in your life. Even more important than your life. If He isn't remember the most important commandment.

  • Joel Osteen Maintains Homosexuality as Sin

I'm amazed that he had the courage to do it. Will he stand by his convictions when his membership starts declining because of his view?

    No he won't.

  • Ga. Church Draws Worshippers with $500 Gas Raffle

Let me see...... 9000 members but 2500 "regularly" {which probably means 1-2 times a month} Let's assume that 500 members {I'm being generous here.} are elderly or can't attend for valid reasons. What that really means is that the church has 3000 members, but 9000 people on it's membership rolls. I wonder if the elders or deacons call or visit the 6500 members who don't regularly attend. We do need to attend to our brethren who are lost.

  • New 'Narnia' Film Reflects Modern Spiritual Battle

    teddyrux »
    Thu May 15, 2008 12:15 pm Agree: 4   Disagree: 0

    This movie and the book not only reflect the "modern spiritual battle", but the spiritual battle that starts in Genesis and end in the Book of Revelation. Unfortunately, Diana626 is correct in that too many Christians would rather watch a movie than read God's Word. {I do disagree with the generalization. Generalizations rarely get anything accomplished and rarely get the point across.}

    agentorangex,

The website, www.expelledexposed.com, was created by a pro-evolution group. Using your logic, anything on that website is suspect and should be verified.

Taken from their home page: "The National Center for Science Education (NCSE) defends the teaching of evolution in public schools."

We just need to read "motivational and inspirational books". That makes my life so much easier now. No more praying ceaselessly. No more daily reading of Scripture. I can read the great modern classics by Joel Osteen.

This is exactly the article I expected from someone who's job title is "Life Coach". Which, by the way, used to be one of the duties of a pastor. Interesting.
