jehovahnissi said: "Jesus' teaching on the beatitudes is His plumbline to keep me in check..."

Jehovahnissi, the entire law is his plumbline and all of us miserably fail to fulfill it.

Thanks be to God that Christ has fulfilled it for us, so that my meager five loaves and two fishes, or my widow's mites, are looked at as perfect by God because of him.

  • Emerging Pastor Encourages Open Talks, Preaching on Homosexuality

what a joke. If you preach through the Bible, you'll talk about sex about as much as the Lord thinks we needs it, and won't say anything that's not in the Bible. Our pastor just talks about it when it comes up in the text and no one is bashful about it in our conservative Lutheran congregation. Why all this accusation about us being afraid of sex? We just don't make titillating campaigns of it to attract people to church.

Why is he being promoted by "CHristian" (ear scratching) Post? OH that's right, because CP isn't realy Christian.

coffee, you need to do some reading of books other than the Purpose Driven Life. The truth is out there if you bother to look for it.

" Moses used the staff to pull or push his sheep." They also use them to drive off the wolves of false teaching.

However Rick Warren consistently uses his staff to beat any sheep that get out of line and eventually leave them behind if they don't 'get with the (unbiblical) purpose driven program.'

coffee, go through PDL and find the place where he says "Pray this prayer - Jesus I believe you and I receive you - if you meant that prayer sincerely, welcome to the family of God." THEN go back from there and read UP to that point and try to find a coherent presentation of the gospel. This MUST include our complete deadness in sin, God's wrath directed against everyone who sins and the eventual destination of hell for all, the voluntary blood atonement, death, resurrection of Christ so that IF WE REPENT of our sins and surrender to God/Christ as Lord, we can have forgiveness of those sins and avert God's wrath.

Jesus I believe you and I receive you, without explaining the situation, without turning your back on all others, is not enough.

coffee, I can't figure out what you are trying to say.

The gospel, the real one, not the one Mclaren preaches, will save, if only we believe it enough to speak it without compromise. The kids who the Holy Spirit is calling through the gospel will believe, and the others will go on and leave, or at least NOT believe.

Having misguided or out of priority concerns is a sign of immaturity at best, and lack of love of the truth *(e.g. those who are saved will love the truth) at worst.

Easy to say that the world is more receptive to the gospel when we've dumbed it down and made it man-centered, God is just love, he's worried about our self-image etc... of COURSE they'd be more receptive to that, and that is EXACTLY why the Emergent Apostasy is gaining ground!

  • Hindu Leaders Split Over Yoga for Christians

The contact with 'the divine' is also a misnomer. Contact with "the supernatural" is more like it. Or contact with your own mind. But to believe when you contact those things that it is God, however you may think of Him, is blasphemy, because he has said not to try and contact him the way pagans contact their 'gods.'

Full gospel said:"All it shows is that Church is exactly where we all need to be."

Only if you really are saved, which is doubtful considering most churches preach a false gospel of fullfillment (health, wealth, happiness, purpose, anything BUT the true gospel).
