  • Mark Driscoll on Mission to Get Dads Involved in Christmas

So your personal beef with Driscoll nullifies the value in what this particular article is saying? If we must we agree with 100% of what a given preacher says/believes in order to accept truth from him...good luck in finding that pastor.

"One slip..." I think that is overstating it. One slip and I could die tragically in an auto accident but I still drive my truck to work every day. If they are staff members he can make some demands on them but I think it is a fine line and could result in wrongful termination lawsuits. While I think his actions are well-intended they motivated by fear (of failed marriages)....thus the resulting need to control. Such LAW will only drive sin underground. No one on staff will ever admit to struggling with x issue in a fear/control environment. And for those using FB for non-sinful purposes they get unjustly punished in the process. Pastor, teach your people to be wise about FB friends. Don't try to control their actions....even our Father does not do that to us.less

This warrants an openness amongst the leaders to talk about their struggles and vulnerabilities. Sadly such safety is rare in church leadership circles because they jobs are on the line...and we know how Christians treat the leaders when they exposed as flawed. This also extends to Friends who post pictures (and other things) irresponsibly. A buddy posts his "lake photos". I would love to stay in contact thru FB with this college chum but I don't need the visuals. I have to be wise and guard my own heart and my own eyes. FB can be great but FB can also be very bad. We must know our vulnerabilities and be accountable.

Everyone is vulnerable in some manner and to say "If the church staff had healthy marriages the temptation would not be too great" is too simplistic. If you had a previous relationship there may be lingering soul-ties that you are unaware of and while you may think it no big deal to reconnect it opens a window for prospective trouble. plus, I don't think my wife would be thrilled to know that I h...more

In truth one should be wise enough to not friend a former love interest. That should be the pastor's guideline...not deletion of the entire account. FB does have SOME value so don't throw the baby out with the bath water.less

  • Elevation Church Launches Fourth Campus

Looking over the Elevation website you must admit that they are unashamedly honest about what they are. So go ahead and sign up but the seeker movement is what's wrong with American Christianity. Everything about "seeker" merely dumbs believers down. Discipleship has been sacrificed on the altar of American consumerism. I won't continue but leave it with "this type of church turns my stomach"....more
