Glad to hear that San Diego County backed down. Have several thoughts: (1) Thankfulness for the freedom we have in this country to practice our faith. (2) What this pastor faced reminds me of the daily persecution faced by our Christian brethren in our countries, may we remember to pray for them! (3) More persecution of church in the U.S. could be a blessing; it will separate the true believers from the merely professing believers, and the true church will grow as Christians turn to the Lord Jesus Christ in prayer.

As a follower of Christ, I see the "gay marriage is a constitutional freedom" as a red herring. It's not the real issue. The real issue is a spiritual one. Supporters of gay marriage are suppress the truth that there is a God (this is evident in creation; at the day of judgment no one will have a valid excuse for denying the existing of the God of the Bible). I oppose gay marriage because it goes against what Scripture defines as a union of man and woman. For me to support, or passively allow, gay marriage would be equivalent to me supporting legalized moral sin of any kind. I am called to speak out for my Lord.

Many people believe in God. But some of those who believe in God do not believe that Jesus is God the Son and the Son of God.

Be thankful for the free press and the open access to the internet in our nation. Senator Obama's unedited verbatim comments about "faith" and his interpretations of biblical passages are available to anyone who can "google" them. His views of "faith" reveal his true faith, which sadly seem well to the left of biblical Christianity.

As a follower of Jesus Christ, I find it so sad that some of those who are objecting so strongly to the name of Jesus being mentioned in a song of praise on national TV, are also those who readily accept the name of Jesus being used in profanity in movies and cable TV programs.

Young or old, believers ought be wary of "making their own faith". This can easily happen when believers don't read their bibles and/or when pastors/churches don't preach/teach the Word of God. Believers can mix their shallow understanding of biblical truths together with worldly values and ideas and voila, a "spiritual" life that "comfortable to me" faith, but far from true biblical faith.

Churches, seminaries and ministries around the world that are theologically fundamental are lovingly carrying out wonderful work in the name of our Lord. Your article would be improved by carefully distinguishing between these ministries and those that you see as manifesting political, nationalistic and legalistic views to the extreme. Else you truly do a disservice to them. Further, you mislead "unwitting Christians" who have not yet had opportunity to do "a serious survey of history" to learn how the term "fundamental" came about (from The Fundamentals issued in the early 1900's).
On our own we are little more than bits of stone and glass. Together we are the Body of Christ. Holy Bible: Mosaic is an invitation to experience Christ in His Word and in the responses of his people. Each week, as you reflect on guided Scripture readings aligned with the church seasons, you will receive a wealth of insight from historical and contemporary writings.
