Why did the US government make Christmas a national holiday in the first place?
You call that an answer? it's a fact. They do have the same rights and many of them do marry. What you are asking is to change the concept of marriage. Well if you can change the concept of marriage then so can anyone else. In effect you might as well through the whole idea of marriage out of society. Completely do away with it. But before you do ask yourself if it is in society's best interest to promote and keep the concept of marriage.

I'm still trying to figure out what legal and civil rights gays are denied. They have the same right to marry as anyone else.

Wow, I never realized how hated the Roman Catholic Church was. I never realized how many people know absolutely nothing about the Roman Catholic Church theology yet condemn it.

u4 I didn't know that perfection was part of the definition of human being. If it is then none of us would be here. Having an 'imperfect' child, raising him or her and loving them is the difference between TB race horses and human beings.

how can you have a church with wide ranging theological differences? either you believe church theology or you don't. Assuming your church has a theology.

you can't be a Christian and believe in re-incarnation. We live, we die, we are judged.

"Our religious traditions and scriptures teach us that wherever love is present, God is also present," the coalition, called D.C. Clergy United for Marriage and Equality, states."
This is such nonsense and a complete twist on the relationship of God and love. Just because someone is in love or loves someone doesn't make it OK, good, or holy. There are many situations where being in love with someone is sinful, such as with a child, with a person already married, etc. Obviously this group has no idea what marriage is about. In fact a lot of people in today's society don't have a clue what marriage is about, gay or straight. Marriage is not a religious or civil approval of a sexual union.

This is not a civil rights issue since gays have the same rights as straights. Marry a person of the opposite sex, only one, not related closer than cousin and you will have the same rights as anyone else. All other legal rights can easily be obtained by a visit to a lawyer and you can still get all dressed up and have a big party.

I for one, will not see anything that Dan Brown has been involved in. I've had friends say, "it's just a movie" but then you talk to them and find they now have doubts about Christianity.

"two guys who get into a fight over a girl at a bar, and those same two guys beating the sh*t out of someone"
these aren't even the same crime. So what you are saying is that assault on a gay man is worse than assault on a straight man. Or to put it another way, motivated by prejudice is worse than motivation by greed. I think hate crime laws are an insult to victims in general. Assault is assault and it shouldn't matter what the motivation is.
MickyC said, "How does it shake the foundations of society? In Massachusetts where same sex marriage has been legal for a number of years, everything seems to be going just fine."
except that the Catholic Adoption Agency in MA had to close because they had this weird idea that children should be adopted to a MOM and a DAD.

it is a waste of time to argue with an atheist. Either you have faith or you don't.

MickeyC » said, "It looks like those who oppose equality for everyone are learning that no everyone supports their bigotry."
What you fail to see is that you are not being discriminated against. You have the same right to marry as any other man. What you want to do is redefine marriage. If you redefine marriage than marriage ceases to exist. This is another case of being self indulgent. Marriage is between a man and a woman in order to provide the ideal support system for the raising of children.
Mickey C said, "Therefore, the NOM is advocating that children of same sex couples NOT be allowed married parents. Facts are facts and this organization is purposefully discriminating against children and against the welfare of children."
No same sex couples are discriminating against children by purposefully depriving children of an opposite sex parent. Just because heterosexual couples can't keep a marriage together doesn't change the fact that the ideal social structure to raise children in is a man and a woman in a committed relationship. But our society trivializes marriage with silly reality shows like The Bachelor and with films where sex takes place with no suggestion of marriage.

it is interesting that so many feel that the state has no business being involved in marriage. Yet these same people would put a burden on the state to care for and protect children. Everyone should have a stake in protecting marriage. It seems today everyone takes marriage lightly especially heterosexuals. The real purpose of marriage is to provide a stable, both financially and emotionally, environment for children. Every child deserves a mom and a dad. Both femininity and masculinity are important in our lives. Marriage is more than legalized sex. It seems many have forgotten that point.

On our own we are little more than bits of stone and glass. Together we are the Body of Christ. Holy Bible: Mosaic is an invitation to experience Christ in His Word and in the responses of his people. Each week, as you reflect on guided Scripture readings aligned with the church seasons, you will receive a wealth of insight from historical and contemporary writings.
