Real mental giant, that Pat Robertson. He leaves some interesting intellectual flotsam and jetsam in his wake.

"ICR is currently examining its legal options regarding how it can best serve the educational 'gaps' of Texas residents."
    -
Leaving Texas would be a great beginning. There's too many people in that state who don't need any more gaps in their education.
    -
So, if this outfit were to issue a master's degree, what vocational pursuit would the recipient be qualified for? Stocking shelves at Wal-Mart? Inflating tires at Firestone? Perhaps they could be investment brokers for Bernard Madoff, eh? Or schedule appointments for Sarah Palin.

Where was the umbrage two and three years ago when the King was concealing the costs of his war in Iraq while the domestic economy slowly and conspicuously slobbered ever deeper into the muck?
    -
Were not the loyal subjects concerned about the future of their monetary system at that point or for the near and distant future? Why did not the loyal subjects rise up in the Summer of 2008 when it became known that the economic decline began in December, 2007?
    -
Do the loyal subjects of the now-departed King and his fellow travelers think the existing domestic economic malaise is 90 days old? Do the loyal subjects not recall the initial efforts made by the King's fellow travelers to staunch the bleeding, as it were, and the proclamations of horrible things to come if the advice of the King's fellow travelers was not followed?
    -
Oh dear. Another example of selective memory and manufactured political grievances because a segment of the electorate cannot think for itself. Dear me, what is to become of the republic for which some of us stand and have served, apparently in vain?

The-Innkeeper and rolln4him beg the question: "What's the difference between evangelical Christians and Islamic jihadists?"
    -
None. Both want to impose their beliefs upon you. Or else.
    -
Way to go, people of Christ. You've just painted yourselves further into the dark, damp, moldy corner of irrelevance.

So, if there is so much unhappiness about the story in "Newsweek", why would "Christian Post" publish a story such as this:
    -

    -
Seems to me like these few folks who have Taliban-like tendencies to wanna impose their moral concepts of Christianity upon others and are displeased with what they have wrought oughta pack up shop and head to some nation more predisposed to tyranny. Like Venezuela or Zimbabwe.

Smurfdog, what is the relationship between 9/11 and the Israeli attack upon the USS Liberty? Please elaborate upon this curiosity in great detail.
    -
I would've expected the US Naval carrier battle group within 60 miles of the USS Liberty to launch an immediate combat air patrol and attack the Israeli aircraft and naval forces as retribution for killing 23 US naval and civilian personnel.
    -
Again, please explain your statement because I do not find any relationship. Are you stating the USS Liberty, flying the US flag and therefore a vessel of a presumed Israeli ally in very plain and obvious view, posed a threat to Israel and therefore Israel was therefore justified in attacking it?
    -
So, in your rather twisted and perverted logic, the United States represented a terrorist organization to Israel, eh? You're a real sicko.

  • Over 100,000 U.S. Christians Express Solidarity with Israel

Support for Israel should be forthcoming ONLY, with great emphasis upon ONLY, after Israel has given a complete, detailed, and legally-correct statement that explains why the air force and navy of that nation attacked the USS Liberty in June, 1967, resulting in the deaths of 23 US naval and civilian personnel.
    -
John Hagee is nothing but an apologist for a nation that has no qualms about the murder of US citizens on the high seas and as such, he is a reprehensible charlatan.
    -
The good citizens of Israel can simmer in their own juices until they and their government atone for their sins. Especially when the rabbis of the IDF condone the murders of women and children in the Gaza Strip by Israeli soldiers.
    -
Let Hagee and any other Israeli appeaser justify that.

The purported "outrage" is tantamount to GOV George Wallace standing in the doorway to the admissions office of the Univ of Alabama, blocking the way of Autherne Lucy.
    -
George Wallace didn't have any stature, morally, ethically, or legally. Neither do these folks alleging "outrage". Let them go live with Rush Limbaugh or, better yet, in Wasilla, Alaska, with their princess.

Perfect opportunity to kill those, in the name of Christ, who are not as Christian as you are. In other words, you can interpret Biblical passages far better than others and therefore, just like in Islam, those others are infidels to the faith and do not deserve to live.

Islam has 23 sects that branch off variously from Sunni and Sh'ia. Each sect believes that it is the only true practitioner of the teachings of the Prophet Mohammed. All others are infidels
    -
To read the postings to this story, I can safely believe that there are entirely too many sects of Christianity and each poster believes that he/she is the only true practitioner of the teachings of Jesus Christ and that all others are heretics who should immediately be sent off to Hell.
    -
Fascinating. No wonder young people are choosing to drift away from evangelical religions and that practicing evangelicals are consistently and further painting themselves into corners of insignificance and irrelevancy.
    -
Personally, I'd like to think each of you have more meaningful and beneficial matters to concern yourselves with given the suffering within our nation, let alone the world, but if quoting scripture is your thing and it feels good, do it!
    -
Keep on painting, brothers and sisters! You're working long and hard for your just rewards at the bottom of the sludge pit of life.

So, Christians, which of the following real-world parables will govern your choices in life over the next four and maybe even eight years:
    -
    1. "American: love it or leave it" (surely those of you age 57 or older will remember that call to patriotism) or
    2. "Do under others what you would have others do unto you".
    -
Seems like every one of you has a tremendous amount of backtracking to do as quickly as you can so as to not be seen in public as continuing to be practicing and very self-serving hypocrites.

This is an excellent story and exemplifies why I read "Christian Post" even though I do not agree with much of the content. That "Christian Post" would publish this story is all the more important to me because I know that I'm not gonna see this COMPLETE and unedited story anywheres else.
    -
As for any manner of spirituality, the only modus operandi I've embraced for almost five decades is one that was literally carved in stone over the main entrance to the high school I attended in old East Dallas way back in the early 1960's:
    -
"Keep thy heart with all diligence for out of it are the issues of life."
    -
That didn't mean anything to me until maybe age 38 or so when it suddenly made an impression upon me that a proverbial ton of bricks would do. I do not see any reason whatsoever for any personal to wear their religion upon their sleeve; that serves only to antagonize others.
