" the complete loss of our influence in the political arena"...Is it not sad that we should even be concerned with this issue? Can we not just get back to spreading the Word?

I am always concerned when people brush aside the clear message of God's word and replace it with denominational tradition. Our Lord created wine from water at a celebration. Paul counselled Timothy to take wine for his stomach (an indication that Paul may have known of wine's health benefits that we are just finding out now). Equating sex outside of marriage (a practice specifically condemned) with responsible drinking (a practice specifically allowed) in order to drive home your own denominational view is irresponsible. It's always best to stick to the Lord's word. Men have proven over and over again that when they replace the Lord's word with their own, death ensues.

I'm sorry but it is the appearance of excess exhibited by those that make a living delivering the Word that keeps many from coming into the Lord's house. Whether true or not, it always lends an air of avarice when the preacher is being paid an exhorbitant sum out of the offerings of the faithful. My 2p...nothing more
