"If religious beliefs conflict with this oath, the individual should never enter the Armed Forces."

    Amen, and Amen...

"Evidence that Hasan cried out a Muslim expression during the attack,..."

Thank you for including this and at the same time not stating the expression word for word.

The Christian Post decided to respond with this article from R. Albert Mohler, Jr. concerning the recent event at Fort Hood.

Good journalism; CP chose a truthful and very well written article.
Thank you Mr. Mohler for a most honest perspective.

Still no article on the Christian Post directly addressing Fort Hood.
And there is also nothing regarding the comments of Pat Robertson about Islam.

I'm really not wanting to be off-topic, but this is one of the most important issues confronting the Christian community. If we keep silence now, we may never again get the chance to be heard.

    1Th 5:16 Rejoice evermore.
    1Th 5:17 Pray without ceasing.
1Th 5:18 In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Looks to me like its God's will for us to pray.
This is communication with your Creator through a relationship with Jesus Christ.

But sometimes, especially in difficult times, we need to be reminded of that.

You appearently delight to be in the Christian camp making a mockery of the faith.

Be careful though, you may learn something.

"My point is persecution is wrong no matter who it is against, be it Christian or any other religion"

I'm sorry to focus on this portion of your comment, but you seem to be denying what God says about persecution. You seem to be misrepresenting God's word.

The bible makes it clear to us that God intends some to suffer persecution.
Certainly we can pray for God to remove such a "cup" from us, just as Christ did, but in the end it is according to God's will...not ours.

We should also pray that those who must be persecuted stand strong in their faith. Great rewards await those who do remain strong...like the Prophets.

"wrhalver I fear that children are persecuted out of prejudice and that their best interests take a back seat to people's personal agendas"

Is this type of persecution the same as being persecuted for the sake of Christ?

The persecution spoken of in this article concerns persecution for the sake of Christ.

While I agree with your view, it does not apply to the context of this article.

The name of the Islamic God was invoked in the incident at Fort Hood. This directly addresses a faith, not racial prejudice.

I am repearting my own comment...however there is still no article from the Christian Post regarding Fort Hood.

The "eyes" of all Christians should be open to the seriousness of this event.

For him who has ears to hear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying to the church.

What is it that you fear?

There are many who only claim to be Christians. And then there are Christians who only wish to live on "milk" rather than growing up to the "meat".

It is often through persecution that God does the sifting.

As an atheist you do not believe in God. So then your intentions are not directed for God's purposes, but for your own.

All men can desire complete peace on Earth. But those who believe in God know that this world is designed to pass away, and that complete peace awaits us in Heaven.

Anyone who professes Christ as their Saviour may suffer persecution. There is no respect of persons.

The church always grows strongest when persecuted. Who are we to question the methods God may use to draw us closer to Him.

Not sure what persecution you speak of, but this article is about the persecution of Christians....

    The bible says the following....
Joh 15:20 Remember the word that I said to you, The servant is not greater than his master. If they have persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they have kept My saying, they will also keep yours.

Mat 5:10 Blessed are they who have been persecuted for righteousness sake! For theirs is the kingdom of Heaven.

Mat 5:11 Blessed are you when men shall revile you and persecute you, and shall say all kinds of evil against you falsely, for My sake.
Mat 5:12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for your reward in Heaven is great. For so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

    It's part of God's plan.

We should be praying for our fellow brothers and sisters who are living in environments far more hostile towards Christianity than is experienced in the United States.

But the recent event at Fort Hood may have just changed our focus.

A man has stood before the US military on US soil, proclaimed the name of his god, and then proceeded to take lives in the name of that god.

Like 9/11, this has happened here in the United States.

So far the secular media has not been covering this event from this perspective. They have concentrated on the more emotional side of losing a loved one.

But there is a much greater truth playing out here.

I have not seen any article on the Christian Post regarding this event. Perhaps I am not looking in a deep hidden category, but this should be front page.

I have seen a great deal of history posted on the suspected shooter, but there is nothing further about how the shooter is going to be treated especially since we know that he was not killed as was originally reported.

The US military should provide truthful answers. God help us if this becomes a matter of national security and cannot be disclosed. But it is possible that we just can't handle the truth.

Here is truth we can handle. The God of Abraham,. Isaac, and Jacob is our God. And Jesus Christ died for the salvation of us all.

    Interesting...

While many communities are banning Christianity from the public schools, and fighting over the public representation of Christianity especially at the Holidays, its rather interesting that Dallas would do an about-face.

Of course, we'll have to see if any other faiths make a similiar investment.

Cheers wrhlaver. I couldn't have said it better myself. :-)

The Bible is simply *not* cover-to-cover word-for-word literally true.

As you have shown, this is not an opinion. This is a *fact*."

Anyone who believes that every scripture in the bible is to be taken literally has a great misunderstanding as to the various ways God chooses to communicate His message.

I did want to point out, however, that Mathew 1:1 can be taken literally if we change the names in the following manner....
Replace David with Mary, and Abraham with God, and then we can take this scripture literally. But, again, this is not what God was trying to communicate through this writer.

For him who has ears to hear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying to the church. But of course you must desire to want to hear.

    Please explain the following...
Mat 1:1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. If we take this scripture literally, neither name given is correct.

But if we take this in the context for which the writer meant, it holds a great truth.

"These are two trivial examples among *many* internal inconsistencies in the Bible. In each case, they cannot both be correct, therefore the Bible contains some errors."

Not sure where your conclusions come from. As I research the references you have provided, the names given in each example are correct.

    There are two different meanings.
Christ, for example, is one of the children of Abraham and is also referred to as the son of David.

    Both references are true.

"I hope that those who identify as Christians cease leaning on an interpretation of the Bible as presented in English by King James that says the only way to God is through Jesus."

Although this truth is not just found in the English King James scriptures, the fact is that we rely on the Holy Spirit of God to reveal the truth in the scriptures.

The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit make up the Godhead of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Christ must be acknowledged as the only Son of God who willing gave of His life as an acceptable sacrifice before God for the redemption of sinners. This is truly the highest regard for Christ.

"Daly has said he and Focus on the Family will remain as committed as Dobson ever was to biblical principals, such as the sanctity of human life and the sacredness of marriage.

Over the years, Dobson translated this into fierce opposition to abortion rights, gay marriage, pornography and even President Barack Obama's candidacy.

Daly, 48, however, has said his style is less confrontational and political and more conversational than Dobson's. The culture at Focus is more relaxed now."

(This is from an interview by the Denver Post. It was printed before February of this year.)

John the Baptist once said that one greater than he was coming to Baptize in the Holy Spirit with Fire.

And at the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came upon those in the Upper Room with Fire.

Let's hope that Focus on the Family has not lost that Fire....

Never is a very strong word.
These past elections proved that the "never" barrier is beginning to fall.

The reality is that Huckabee is really starting to look like another Ronald Reagan.

But another reality is that Palin is becoming a very strong voice for the woman and perhaps family in general. We are not living in the Ozzie and Harriet world.

Palin does not need a talk show to draw attention. The negative publicity is difficult but is really giving her great exposure overall. Fox News understands this. Ask Bill O'Reilly.

"As part of their effort to gain perspective on the lives of American Muslims, some Oasis attendees visited a mosque and witnessed a Friday prayer service."

We could extend this out to mean that that Protestant Christians should attend a Catholic mass to get a better understanding of Catholic ways and their lives.

Otherwise, using this argument to get Christians into a Mosque is a very slick idea especially coming from former Muslims.
