  • Rick Warren to Speak at Muslim Convention in D.C.

    I'm afraid that the worldview portrayed so clearly by BDawgC is what dooms our relations with the Muslim world to failure. The problem with all major religions is the fundamentalists in each. The people who feel like we must condemn the other, whether "in love" or not. I think it is a great thing that Rick Warren is speaking at this convention, and the biggest mistake he could make, the one that, sadly, most evangelicals like BDawg would hope he makes, is to stand up there and give them the ol' "what for" and lecture the crowd on the superiority of the Christian religion. Everyone there knows that Warren, by default, favors Christianity. The knucklehead approach, favored by the Neanderthal Right, would have him walk into this group that took a risk to invite him (can you imagine an imam addressing the Southern Baptist Convention?) and repay that honor with a polarizing lecture about the wonders of Christianity vs. the evils of Islam. Here's one Christian who hopes Warren has the good sense to be a guest in their houseâ
