Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. (JN 8:32)
thats insane... there are plenty of non-profit organizations who are tax exempt, religious or not, and they SHOULD be as such, gratitude or not. political candidates need to be looked at closely and the fact that religious organizations are restricted at all in this arena is gestapo-like. of course, thats the attitude in general of many who are opposed to, or merely don't espouse religion. a gross...more

i understand what youre saying cap. but what i'm saying is that those very restrictions are unconstitutional in that they are interpreted erroneously and to benefit certain candidates whose positions on matters are subject to greater scrutiny by Christian types, or church-goers, as it were. basically, the law is being used to restrict speech when a pastor, for example can advise his friends, paris...more
i understand what youre saying cap. but what i'm saying is that those very restrictions are unconstitutional in that they are interpreted erroneously and to benefit certain candidates whose positions on matters are subject to greater scrutiny by Christian types, or church-goers, as it were. basically, the law is being used to restrict speech when a pastor, for example can advise his friends, parishoners, attendees as he sees fit. it DOES NOT violate any law, except as it is conveniently described and interpreted by said candidates and those who would like to silence any and all critics they are able to, by any means possible... ethical or not.
to say that a church's tax status should be revoked because a pastor talks about candidates, or prefers a certain one during church service is nonsense. and even that, would not necessarily be an official endorsement per se. further, this is why VERY few who are reported have been even close to being paid attention to by the IRS. everything hinges on interpretation and of course, there is only 1 kind of politics in this country these days... the dirty kind. and 2 kinds of politicians: one who survives being immersed in the dirty politics and one who embraces and participates in it.
its a bad and easily twisted law you and others cling to. just another example of conservative, Christian, Biblical values being restricted in some way shape or form. no surprise though.less
nice try captain, but a pastor can advise people on candidates based on Biblical teaching and even mandates as far as which one is more prone to adhere to godly teachings, and thus godly leading, decision making, voting on certain bills etc... we have every right to be informed by anyone we choose as to which candidate is best. the law does not apply as you have described.
its because the god of this world continues to cultivate and promote hate and arrogance and indifference and persecution, small and large, toward the people of Jesus Christ. He is the one the devil hates. but they are so blinded that, as you said, they think they can come across as believable. its gross.
