  • Sanford Tragedy a Cautionary Tale for Christians, Says Colson

If you sin and repent and turn from your sin, God and man do forgive you, but!! YOU HAVE DISQUALIFIED YOURSELF, from the office, the job, the church and the pulpit, show the works of repentance and stand down instead of continuing to shame your church, family, company or whatever else. You may be a great leader, preacher, Pastor or whatever but do not insult God or the church by inferring that you are so important and your talents so special that God cannot find another to fill your shoes.
The thief on the cross was forgiven instantly but he never got off the cross

After have gone through the modern church from the 60 to 2009, I feel that as Christians we are more and more confused by the political and business worlds that we move in and no longer by the world of the Kingdom of God , we are people of grace and mercy people of forgiveness and we do forgive, I have had three of my own spiritual leaders fall into sin, and to my own shame they just got up, dusted themselves off, and carried on as if nothing had happened and all of them brought shame to the church, loss of young people and loss of reputation.

I believe that because of American greed the world as we know it will never be the same again, things have changed the economies of the entire world have changed and the church will never be the same again, massive staff and Pastoral layoff, churches being closed, the day of the mega church and the Brangelina Superstar is dead, judgment has begun at the house of God, people are looking for fellowship churches of 200 to 1,000 people, no ore $20, $30, or $40Million dollar projects our vision ahead is "Back to the Future" were the church is the family and the family is the neighborhood.

Having worked in the old Soviet Union from 1972 to the present time during the worst of the cold war, I am amazed that you are so free with the information and the details of this project in North Korea, we were involved in some mission work that I still do not speak of today because at the time peoples lives were in danger and people could lose there lives, North Korea is worse that the old Soviet Union, and have to ask what do you think you are doing by making this so public????

I am so glad to hear this from the Rev. I get it now we do not need ministers to keep us on the path because murder, rape, adultery, incest, one who abuses children, all gifts from God What a mighty God we serve, why stop at gayness

The Pastor serves the Episcopal Church and I wonder were his people are while he is busy dragging there theology thru the mud, why don’t the Bishops and Archbishops stand up and shut him up, he is wrong and does not represent his church not even in Pasadena, in the day he would be called to defend from the Bible what he is saying in public.

He thinks he is cool but he is not as young peole we want leaders who stand for something, not a Pastor who is trying to be politicaly correct.

This is “rendering unto Caesar”, but it does not say that Caesar could now control what was said, the faith based groups are people who have built most of the hospitals, schools, universities, feeding schemes, and hundreds of charitable works in the USA and around the world, with the tax rebates that they receive, if this is lost it will be incumbent upon the state to build all of these institutions at a much greater cost, but freedom to advise your congregation from the pulpit as to what they should consider whether they are liberal or conservative is a right in the USA and should not under any circumstance be tampered with by the State machine, the people will vote with their feet if they do not like the leaderships view, this is done very well in the historic churches by Pastoral letters sent to the churches and in many ways has allowed the Catholic Church to inform it’s congregations what the churches view is on matters of faith and conscience, in countries like South Africa change would never have come if churches did not preach against the ills of apartheid, as was the case in America with Dr. King and it was the right thing to do

Hey Mike2685: I do love your sincerity, but I do not think that he came out because of any word from God, God would not be inconsistent with himself, he cannot denounce a lifestyle and call it sin and then have a leader of the church practice what he has condemned, and by the way because people commit a sin and the church transfers them, or promotes them or hides them away in a retreat center, does not justify sin in others. The western Anglican communion is promoting a sinful lifestyle that God has called sin, you can be gay if you want to but you cannot lead the family of God as a shepherd of the flock and be gay.

Oh! by the way this is what zooch said:

This is the kind of thing that happens when you place political correctness above the Word of God, and the majority of the Anglican communion, those of us from the colonies are not prepared to follow the liberalism of the Western Church any longer, we are in the majority on this subject and we agree with scripture not with some cheep grace doled out by the Pontiffs of the west. We weep for our communion and pray that the Western church will follow the example of the 3rd world and let the world know that we are right and that there is a biblical standard of morality, to which all of human kind must adhere, stop trying to sell us some soft sell love one another for the sake of the church non sense and let’s love God instead.

Now it's one story story.....I am a sorry that a lot of evangelicals have such a narrow view of this election, I come from another country and had to endure the operation brought about by a "Christian" government you Americans need to value your freedoms and understand the President of the USA is the leader of more than America, everything we buy is US Dollar based, and most of the missions and feeding around the world is paid for by American Christians, the next President will be responsible for at least two and maybe three Supreme Count Justices that can change the America and the world as we know it so to say I will not vote or I will vote for a third party is rubbish, we learned at great pain that no vote is a vote, and throwing your vote at someone who cannot be elected is tossing your freedom to the wind. I beg you to consider what you do. God will hold you responsible for what you do in November and the World you leave to the next generation

Oh!!!! by the way to say that somehow America is under the Wrath of God!!!! Please!!!! why would God pick on America when there are a bunch of European countries that should be ash heaps using that logic, like France, Sweden, UK, Belgium, etc. and a huge number of Asian counties, India, China, and a host of other, at least America is doing some good in this world, relax and stop being so hard on yourselves at least In God we still trust here in America.

I think we miss the point, this is not about the black church, Black Theology or liberation theology (who thought we would be turning that soil again) but it is about judgment, poor judgment that the man who wants the job as the most powerful man on earth can display such poor judgment and sit and listen to and be a friend of Pastor Wright for 20 years, I cannot trust my life and future and care of the free world to a man with such bad judgment.

As a white man I thought I could like this man because he is not a raving black wild man like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton et al but his judgment let him down, standing somewhere in the shadows there was Rev. Wright.

What Chuck says is correct and we understand the problem but lead us out of this “Oh Pied Piper” we know the problem give us the solution, how is it possible that in a country that is supposed to be 8o percent Christian that we can be silenced by a small group???? because "BAD THINGS HAPPEN WHEN GOOD PEOPLE DO NOTHING" ---- The drug freaks of the 70's, our parents I’m ashamed to say, are now in charge of the political and educational institutions and it's time that we the young people of America take it back, the old hippy's are to blame.
