As teenagers across the United States begin their school years this week, one Ohio adolescent will be preparing to preach the Gospel.

Kory Logan, a 16-year-old preacher whose father heads Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Glendale, will be a featured speaker at that congregation's youth event later this month.

Logan told local media that years ago he felt a calling to preach, being the fourth generation in his family to answer such a calling.

"Some know that I'm a preacher there, some don't," said Logan to WLWT Channel 5 of Cincinnati earlier this week.

"It was something I just kept praying about. God kept speaking to me about it. I announced my calling to preach and ever since then it's just been going up for me so it's been a blessing."

Logan has preached before, being a keynote speaker at a recent "Youth Day" event held at Lincoln Heights Missionary Baptist Church in Woodlawn.

The Reverend Alfonza Jones, director of Ministries at Lincoln Heights Missionary Baptist, told The Christian Post that Logan was selected to speak at their Youth Day event because the church is helping its youth deliver the message of Jesus Christ to other youth.

"We bring in youth speakers from the community and across the country because we want our youth to see other youth on fire for the Lord," Jones explained. "Kory will be invited back as others have been invited back."

Jones also said that it was "very important" for young preachers like Logan to embrace their calling to preach the Gospel.

"There is a perception in the community that young people are not into worship and church," said Jones to CP. "Hip hop and rapping has changed the landscape of worship for youth, so to see young people like Kory is a message to young and older people that God is still raising up a remnant to do His work."

Logan will deliver a "sermonette" at Mt. Zion's "Friday Night Live" youth worship event, scheduled to be held Friday, September 19 from 7:00 PM until midnight.

"Friday Night Live" will also feature a message by another youth preacher, musical performances, dinner, and games including dodgeball.
