2016-2017 NBA: Golden State Warriors Out for Revenge, Sign in All-Stars

The Warriors are out for revenge after they blew their 3-1 advantage over last season's finals. Coach Steve Kerr beefed up the team with Oklahoma's Kevin Durant to do the slashing and inside works. Golden State is also eyeing to create a 15-man lineup with mostly veterans and all-star players, the likes of which the league has never seen before.

With the free agents dwindling as the 2016-2017 season approaches, Kerr will heavily rely on three-point stripe leaders Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, with the possible addition of another sharpshooter, Ray Allen. Curry is currently holding the record for the most three-pointers, and Thompson is the league's number two. And if two-time champion Ray Allen is to be added, expect a shower of three-point bombs in the upcoming season.

To recall, Golden State blew their league record of 88 wins during the 2015-2016 pre-finals after Cleveland Cavaliers swatted the Warrior's 3-1 advantage and stole away the NBA crown. Kerr attributed the loss to then-tired Curry and Thompson because of the heavy pressure they went through before stepping into the finals. This prompted the club to sign in Kevin Durant to work from under the basket, should there be a poor show from the seven-meter lane.

Another potential development is the addition of Russel Westbrook by trading Draymond Green. Although, there are no clear indications yet since there is also a rumored negotiations between Westbrook and the Boston Celtics.

Another puzzle is who will pinch hit for Andreson Varejao if the center can't take it into full throttle throughout the game. There are claims that former Bucks center Larry Sanders will return to the pro league to fill in the role that traded Andre Bogut has left. Sanders left NBA two years ago with statistics of 6.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in 19.8 minutes of average playing time per game.

Coach Kerr's team is now the heavy favorite for the upcoming season with familiar faces like Curry, Thompson, Andre Igoudala, Shaun Livingston and David West. But don't be surprised if "new" faces show up like Durant, who has a confirmed contract.

The biggest change that Warriors fans will see once the league opens is the change in half of the team's players because they have to pawn their six players to accommodate the price tag for Durant. Kerr's team let go of power forward Marreese Speights, center Festus Ezeli, shooting guard Brandon Rush, shooting guard Leandro Barbosa, small forward Harrison Barnes and center Andrew Bogut. Power forward Anderson Varejao will remain with the team for a paycheck of $1.5 million.
