The timeline for the 2016 MacBook Air's release is based on the previous release cycles the Cupertino, California tech company has followed for their other laptop models, the Macbook Pro with Retina Display, and the 2015 MacBook Air.

The upcoming MacBook will be incorporating the most recent Intel chipset, the Intel Core-M based Skylake processor that will only start mass production by the fourth quarter of 2015. This may also be another reason why the laptop is set for release in March next year.

There will be 13-inch and 15-inch models available with a thinner and lighter exterior design. It will feature a USB Type-C port, and Apple's latest display technology, a retina display screen.

The retina display is geared at improving users' screen viewing experience, providing richer color and vibrant hues through a 178-degree viewing angle to enhance the display to its fullest.

It is also expected to be running Microsoft Windows 10 out of the box.

The standard model of the device is likely to have 4GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD storage, the mid-range variant will offer 4GB of RAM as well, but provide a larger 256GB of SSD space. On the other hand, the laptop's premium model is expected to have 8GB or RAM and 512GB of SSD space.
