2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon Release Date, Specs: Muscle Car to Have Higher Launch Force Than the Hellcat

Dodge has been slowly peeling away the layers of the 2018 Challenger SRT Demon before its world premiere at the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) in April. The latest teaser titled "Multiplication" previews the upcoming performance halo car's impressive launch force.

The automaker previously released a teaser of the Challenger SRT Demon's tires. Now, it has been revealed that the muscle car will be equipped with 18 x 11-inch lightweight wheels with 315/40R 18 Nitto NT05R street-legal tires with 12.6-inch drag radials, said to have been developed specifically for the new high-performance vehicle.

It was also mentioned that these tires will have more traction and a higher profile that will allow them to handle higher launch torque loads. This, in turn, translates to more torque multiplication.

Specifically, compared to the Challenger Hellcat, Dodge revealed that the Challenger SRT Demon will have approximately 15 percent larger tire contact patch, 18 percent increase in converter torque multiplication, 18 percent increase in rear axle torque multiplication and more than twice as much grip.

Ultimately, the Challenger SRT Demon will generate more than 35 percent higher launch force that the Challenger Hellcat.

The upcoming muscle car has already been established to be more powerful and faster than the 707-horsepower Challenger Hellcat. These weekly teasers allow car enthusiasts to see how the automaker was able to accomplish this incredible feat. In a previous teaser, it was revealed that the Challenger SRT Demon will be 215 pounds lighter than the Hellcat.

Dodge is slated to release eight more teasers for the 2018 Challenger SRT Demon so additional details about the upcoming muscle car will be revealed before it is officially introduced on April 11. It will then be on display at NYIAS 2017, which will take place from April 14 to 23.

The ultimate performance halo car will also be featured in the car-centric film "The Fate of the Furious," premiering on April 14.
