iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus 24K Gold Plated Device Launching; Device Spotted in China?

As if the current-gen flagship from Apple, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, is not expensive enough. Recent rumors now pointed out to a real gold plated version of the smartphone spotted in China.

A report from GSMArena.com indicated a Chinese company NavJack offering a "limited edition gold plated versions" of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Unlike the previously reported "Gold Edition" of Microsoft's Lumia 930 and Lumia 830, NavJack's ultra-luxurious versions are laden with 24 karats of genuine gold.

Featured in the tech website are several photos of the devices which appear to be made with the expensive material. Furthermore, the site revealed that based on the images, the two limited hand-held devices also come with a carbon fiber-like back finish "for an added sense of exclusivity."

But the phones weren't only improved aesthetically. The GSM Arena also said that NavJack also added an extra layer of Gorilla Glass 3 to the iPhones' front panels.

"We assume that's meant to make the screen side more drop and scratch resistant," the site speculated.

It is expected, though, that the customization process excludes the unit's hardware.

To further add more value on the gold-plated phones, GeekyGadgets.com went on to say that the units will be shipped with exclusive, premium boxes labeled with "NavJack Aphrodite."

Meanwhile, there's no word regarding the pricing or the number of units available for the 24K Gold Plated iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. However, it has to be expected that it won't come with a cheap price tag.
