Groups of pro-life college students from across the country have passed through Chicago, Kansas and Louisiana during their 3,000 mile walk across America from Seattle to Washington, D.C.

On its 12th consecutive summer of cross-country walks to promote the “sanctity of all human life, from its very beginning in the womb until natural death,” the grassroots organization called Crossroads reported on Monday that its three groups of 15 volunteers have passed through the three cities on its way to the nation’s capital.

As America celebrated the Declaration of Independence last week, the group noted that “it is a glaring contradiction that we should deny the right to life and liberty to millions of unborn persons.”

“Until the cultural and moral problems that emanate from this crisis are settled, America will not be able to begin the healing process,” said National Director of Crossroads Martha Nolan said last Wednesday, according to a released statement. “But whatever happens politically, our purpose is to change hearts and minds, and we are in this fight for the long-haul.”

Crossroads was founded in 1995 and has reached millions of Americans with the call to protect human life.

“By their own admission, we know that abortion-rights advocates have lied to Americans about the reality of abortion,” Nolan stated. “They have disregarded the harmful effects that abortion has on women, physically and psychologically, and the negative effect it has had on the culture, generally. But they are beginning to tell the truth about one thing: that the pro-life side is winning.”

There are three walks this summer, each with about 15 volunteers, originating in Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, respectively, each concluding in Washington, D.C. on Aug. 12. Combined, the three walks will cover over 9,500 miles and walk through 31 states.
