4-Year-Old Girl Had Heroin in Daycare, Gave It Away Like Candy
A 4-year-old girl had heroin at her daycare in Delaware Monday and passed it out thinking it was candy, according to reports. The little girl took the drugs from her home, and when police traced the illegal substances back to her mother, they arrested her.
The 4-year-old girl who took the heroin from her home initially thought it was candy because of the 249 separate packets they were in. She brought them to the Hickory Tree Child Care Center in Selbyville, Delaware Monday morning, Reuters reported.
Each of the 3.7-gram bags were labeled "slam," a slang name for heroin, according to the Associated Press. Fortunately, daycare workers took the drugs from the children before any of them managed to ingest it and called the police. Several children were still taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Police arrested the mother, 30-year-old Ashley Tull, and charged her with maintaining drug property and endangering the welfare of a minor. Tull's daughter took her mother's bag to school instead of her own because it was ruined by the dog the previous day.
Tull's sister said that Alicia didn't know about the drugs.
"She had no idea of that being in her home," the woman told AP. "It's been really hurtful to her and her family."
Delaware State Police spokesman Master Cpl. Gary Fournier disagrees, though, saying that Tull's charge of maintaining a drug property means she had knowledge of the illegal substances in the home. She has been ordered to stay away from her three children, who range from ages 4 to 11, while they stay with a relative.
Tull was released on $6,000 bond Monday.
