As Father's Day approaches in June, here are five Bible verses about what it means to be a good father.

1) Psalm 103:13

"As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him."

2) Proverbs 3:11-12

"My son, do not despise the Lord's discipline, and do not resent his rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those he loves as a father the son he delights in."

3) Proverbs 127:3-5

"Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court."

4) Proverbs 22:6

"Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it."

5) 3 John 1:4

"I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth."
