93-Year-Old Bodybuilder Finds Way to Make Aging 'Pleasurable' (VIDEO)

Charles Eugster believes that it is better late than never. So at the age of 87 he decided that he would begin his hobby as a body builder. Now aged 93, Eugster hopes to turn heads.

At the age of 87, Eugster admitted that he was not happy with his body due to the fact that he had gained a few extra pounds. Once an athletically fit rower for his college team, Eugster decided it was time to make a change.

"I'm extremely vain," he said in an interview with BBC. "I Noticed I was getting fat."

So Eugster made the decision to hire a former Mr. Universe bodybuilder to train him. His mission was apparently a success and now Eugster admits that he has a new goal.

"The idea is to turn the heads of the sexy young 70-year-old girls on the beach," he said.

At his age, Eugster falls in a minority category of people that are capable of such extreme physical activity at such an old age.

"He is unusual and there is a small minority of the population that can undertake that sort of vigorous activity into their 90s, but that's not true of most of us," Professor Steve Iliffe of primary care for older people at the University College in London said, according to the Science Times. "Within reason it is never too late to start exercising, but you do have to remember there is a difference between exercise and physical activity."

While walking the dog or getting groceries may be enough exercise for some older folks, Eugster has a different state of mind. At 93 he is capable of doing 57 dips, 61 chin-ups, 48 abdominal crunches, and finally, 50 push-ups in 45 seconds.

"It changes your appearance, it changes your energy and it changes the way you think," Eugster commented. "Aging has become something for me, an enormous pleasure, a delight, a joy."
