HP on Tuesday announced that the next wave of $99 TouchPads would be available in a few weeks.

Details regarding how, when, or where these tablets would be available were not mentioned but the company said the details would be communicated through email notifications upon request.

On Aug. 19, HP announced it was lowering the price of its $399 15GB TouchPad to $99, which immediately sparked an online and on-site buying frenzy. In just a matter of hours, TouchPads were sold-out online as well as in retailers like Best Buy.

After news broke that TouchPads were out of stock, HP wasted no time in announcing that it would re-stock stores with devices "early in the week." However, after 11 days of long waiting and constant refreshing of the browser to keep TouchPad announcements in check, HP finally shared: "wait a couple weeks more."

Apparently, HP is manufacturing more TouchPads until Oct. 31, but after that, it stated it would discontinue the development of webOS devices and wind down its device operations.

As far as pricing is concerned, the company said, "Some retailers won’t price match or drop their price to $99. Each retailer will manage their own policy and process regarding pricing and price matching. Please contact the local retailer of your choice to see what their current position is."
