ABC orders pilot for a Mockingbird series 'Marvel's Most Wanted'

Avid fans of Marvel's superheroes are in for a treat as ABC is cooking up another series for them to revel in.
But ABC and Marvel are putting a different twist to their former "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." spinoff.

According to an exclusive report by Variety, the network has handed out a pilot order for a Marvel drama that will focus around one of Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." characters, Mockingbird. The series will be titled "Marvel's Most Wanted" and will follow the journey and adventures of Bobbi Morse aka Mockingbird, played by Adrianne Palicki, and Lance Hunter, played by Nick Blood.

The drama was rumored to be in early development last pilot season and was initially conceived as an "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." offshoot, which was reported in April. However, the idea was soon brushed off with the network deciding not to go pursue it.

In the New York Upfronts this past spring, however, ABC President Paul Lee couldn't help but hint, "It certainly is a possibility of spinning them off."

According to The Hollywood Reported, the series is not a spinoff, per se, but rather a completely new project that is entirely focused on the two characters to carry on their venture. At this point, plot details of "Marvel's Most Wanted" are still limited and the network has not made any decisions yet regarding the premiere date or a path of introduction like announcing the new show as a planted episode during "S.H.I.E.L.D."

"S.H.I.E.L.D." producers Jeffrey Bell and Paul Zbyszewski are the co-creators of the project for Marvel and ABC Studios. They are also co-writing the pilot. They are also the executive producers along with Marvel's head of television Jeph Loeb.

"Agents of SHIELD" will be coming back for season 3, along with "Agent Carter" which is returning for season 2.
