Acer Unveils Gaming Smartphone Predator 6

Acer is trying to make waves at the Berlin IFA 2015. Even before the event officially opened, the Taiwanese company, in a special media event, unveiled a new smartphone that is aimed at a specific segment of technology users – gamers. According to a Tech Times report, the company unveiled its new gaming smartphone called Predator 6 which has high-end specs appropriate for mobile gaming.

According to the report, the device has not just eight but 10 full cores of processing power, as it has MediaTek's deca-core processor. It is also equipped with 4 GB of RAM for speed.

In terms of display, the phone will have a 6-inch screen. Acer did not reveal the phone's resolution specs however, but given that it's a gaming phone, resolution should be good enough for most mobile games. The phone will have four speakers to enhance the mobile gaming experience. Not to be outdone by recently released flagship phones, this one will have a 21-megapixel rear-facing camera.

The device will also have haptic feedback which essentially allows the phone's touch interface to behave like a joystick, according to the report.

Predator 6 will be an Android smartphone, running on the latest Android OS. It is not yet clear whether it will be the Android Lollipop or the upcoming Android Marshmallow.

According to another report in CNET, Acer will not be making the device available in all territories. It will first be introduced in Asia in early 2016, after which the company will decide where else they will release the device. No detail has been given yet about the device's price.

Design-wise, it sports the standard black and red design that can be found in Acer's Predator series of devices, of which Predator 6 is a part of. Other devices included in the series are a gaming laser projector, a tablet, notebooks, desktop computers and monitors that are specifically designed with serious gamers in mind.
