The Christian alternative to YouTube is being used as more than just a venue to post up Christian and family-friendly videos. One user is tapping into the Christian network to seek tips and prayers in his efforts to solve crimes.
Alonzo Washington, a community activist in Kansas City, helped police solve the mysterious "Precious Doe" murder in 2001.
But he hopes to track down suspects in other crimes and “bring the Christian community into the world of fighting crime,” according to Fox News.
So Washington took advantage of an emerging new audience on GodTube, an increasingly popular new website that provides social networking, user-generated videos, and live webcasting to several million visitors every month.
"It's another way to use the Internet to make people conscience of what's going on in the Kansas City area,” said Washington, who goes by "kccrimefighter."
Although the activist has posted tips on MySpace and YouTube, his approach to using GodTube has been slightly different, relying also on the power of prayer to solve crimes.

"I try to use this medium to reach the people who might have a good heart who could pass on good information, who could pray, and who could inform the community of what's going on," Washington said.
Chris Wyatt, founder and chief executive officer of GodTube, welcomed Washington’s videos, one which includes a prayer vigil for a murder victim.
"This is exactly the kind of forward thinking that this technology allows people to extend their message, their mission online," Wyatt said.
GodTube.com officially launched in August and was the nation's fastest-growing Web property in August, according to ComScore's Media Metrix. It reportedly drew more than 4 million unique visitors during October.
