AG launch 14 new churches in one month

Pastors and volunteers from the Assemblies of God in the Southeastern Spanish district launched 14 new churches in one month. The church plants were the culmination of a two-week evangelism effort spanning six states in the district.

For five consecutive nights each week the evangelism thrust "Invasion Evangelistica" consisted of 83 coordinated efforts that included street evangelism, literature distribution and evangelistic services. Volunteers distributed 50,000 copies of the "Evangelio Pentecostal Hoy."

More than 1,800 people filled out salvation decision cards as a result of Invasion Evangelistica. Pastors from 10 countries in Central and South America preached. Metro outreaches included Miami, Tampa, Orlando and Jacksonville, Florida, where more than 3,000 attended. The Miami outreach reported 50 people accepted Christ as Savior on the first night.

"When the church pools its efforts, there's a greater harvest," says Edward Martinez, Southeastern Spanish district superintendent. "And it relays the message to ministers and churches that the Kingdom comes first."

Jeronimo Perez, pastor of Centro Cristiano Hispano, an Assemblies of God church in Brandon, Florida, and coordinator of Invasion Evangelistica, agrees. "Evangelism is the task of the church," says Perez, noting this year's focus is emphasizing evangelism in each local church and planting 10 new churches. "We have to win souls before it's too late."
