'Agent Carter' News: ABC Releases First TV Promo, Official Synopsis Revealed
The new Marvel series "Agent Carter" has released its first teaser, which shows Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter as she gets ready to take on the bad guys. Atwell first played the character on "Captain America: The First Avenger" and "Captain America: The Winter Soldier."
The 15-second spot shows contains that tagline, "Sometimes the best man for the job is a woman."
Set in 1946, the show will feature Agent Carter as she solves cases while struggling with being a woman in a man's world. This premise has its basis in history as after World War II, many women were told to quit the work force and go back to being a homemaker.

Aside from the promo, ABC has also released the official synopsis for "Agent Carter." Here is a part of the synopsis:
"It's 1946 and peace has dealt Peggy a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy finds herself stuck doing administrative work when she would rather be out in the field; putting her vast skills into play and taking down the bad guys. But she is also trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life, Steve Rogers—aka Captain America."
"When old acquaintance Howard Stark finds himself being framed for unleashing his deadliest weapons to anyone willing to pony up the cash, he contacts Peggy—the only person he can trust—to track down those responsible, dispose of the weapons, and clear his name."
Joining Atwell in the series are "One Tree Hill" alum Chad Michael Murray, Shea Wigham, Enver Gjokaj, James D'Arcy, and Dominic Cooper, who will be reprising his role as Howard Stark.
"Agent Carter" will air on Tuesdays on ABC in January 2015.
