'Agents of SHIELD' Season 3 Spoilers: Director Phil Coulson Steps Up To Take Ward Down

It seems like Director Phil Coulson of S.H.I.E.L.D. has already had too much that fans will get to see a darker, angry, and vengeful side of him when the third season of ABC's hit superhero drama TV series "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." returns this week.

Titled "Closure," the synopsis from The Futon Critic hinted that ex-S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Ward's campaign to bring down the crime fighting agency will force its director to take actions that will certainly send a shock to his constituents.

The promo trailer posted on YouTube for the segment revealed just how furious Coulson is with Ward. Fans may remember how devastated the whole organization was when they found out that the latter is actually a double agent who also worked for HYDRA. Just as things were about to burst out of its seams, Ward ditched his two-faced role and went back to where he is truly in alliance with.

Despite the many challenges that the team has to face, including that of the alien Monolith and the issue with HYDRA, Coulson's revenge on Ward will still take center stage. In fact, it looks like fans will get to see a man-to-man showdown between the two ex-colleagues.

One of the scenes in the trailer showed him choking Lance Hunter for what seems to be his failure in taking out the snitch. In another scene, Coulson can also be seen talking to Agent Bobbi Morse that he is about to cross some lines and do certain things that are deemed not right for him as a director to do.

He even gets to call on the very person he hates the most and taunt him.

"…come get me and we'll settle this right now," he said on the phone.

"Marvel's Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D." Season 3 "Closure" airs this Tuesday, Dec. 1, at 9 p.m. on ABC.
