Alec Baldwin set off a war of words on Twitter after being booted from an American Airlines flight for apparently playing popular Facebook game Words With Friends on Tuesday.

The move came as Baldwin was onboard a plane that was waiting at a gate to take off from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

“Flight attendant on American reamed me out 4 playing WORDS W FRIENDS while we sat at the gate, not moving. #nowonderamericaairisbankrupt,” Baldwin tweeted.

It is unclear exactly why Baldwin was removed from the plane, but reports suggest it was because the actor failed to turn off electronic devices, like his smartphone, which is standard on all domestic flights.

Passengers onboard the flight also took to Twitter to chronicle the debacle in real time.

"On an AA flight at LAX. Alec Baldwin removed from the plane. We had to go back to the gate. Terrible that everyone had to wait," Michael J. Wolf tweeted.

Grant Cardone tweeted, “#Alec Baldwin is getting kicked off of AA flight as I tweet this!”

It is unclear why the other passengers were not removed for using mobile devices.

Baldwin, continued to rant on Twitter, making jabs at the airline company and referencing competitors.

“#theresalwaysunited,” Baldwin continued on Twitter. “Now, as I was kicked off this flight, the word I was playing was UNITED.”

Baldwin, who has more than 600,000 followers on the social networking website, retweeted posts from fans as the saga unfolded.

“AlecBaldwin I miss Pan Am,” tweeted follower Chris Belcher.

Baldwin was eventually placed on a later American Airlines flight, but his rips to the airline continued.

“Now on the 3 o'clock American flight. The flight attendants already look.....smarter,” Baldwin tweeted.
