'Alice Through The Looking Glass' News: Plot Details Revealed at D23

At the recently concluded D23 EXPO 2015, Disney shared the plot details of the sequel to "Alice In Wonderland." More than five years have passed since the first movie was shown. The movie that was directed then by Tim Burton hit it big in the box office, earning over a billion dollars globally.

The sequel "Alice Through The Looking Glass" will be bringing back the beloved main character Alice. According to a Cinema Blend report, the movie's plot will not be wholly based on the book "Through the Looking Glass" by Lewis Caroll. As the Disney presentation showed, the movie will be set in Underland, where Alice had earlier gone to. Her trip however is with a specific purpose: to save her friend The Mad Hatter from turning into something "dark." Apparently Alice is the only person who can stop this from happening.

Alice will be once again portrayed by Mia Wasikowska, as in the first movie, and The Mad Hatter will be played by Johnny Depp. Alice encounters new characters in Underland, the most of important one of all is Time, who is played by Sacha Baron Cohen. Time is a part human, part clock and Alice has to get his help in order to save The Mad Hatter. The movie trailer that was shown during the presentation featured Alice going time-travelling where she ends up meeting younger versions of different characters in Underland. According to the report, this part of the film will look at the origins of some of these characters which can be called a prequel of sorts.
