"Girls" star Allison Williams has been named in rumors alongside John Mayer after partying in New York City last week.

Mayer, who recently opened up about his relationship with Katy Perry, was in New York ahead of his "Saturday Night Live" appearance.

The "Gravity" singer and Williams have been longtime friends, but after appearing to leave together in the wee hours of Saturday morning, speculation of a romance arose.

Williams, and Mayer were spotted at Manhattan's Jane Hotel after having dinner with friends together at a West Village eatery, El Toro Blanco, according to Daily Mail.

Furthermore, onlookers reported that the pair arrived together and then left separately the following day.

"Allison and John walked in together and separated to talk to respective friends," said a source at New York Daily News. "They then made their way back to each other, and John has his arm around Allison's waist. They were talking together for a bit before leaving."

Despite the rumors, the friends are reportedly cordial with one another's respective partners. Williams is believed to be dating CollegeHumor founder and CEO Ricky Van Veen, a friend of Mayer's.

"Allison and her boyfriend [Van Veen] are good friends with John and Katy," said a source close to Williams, according to NY Daily News. "Her boyfriend was with them for the entire evening."

However, onlookers speaking to Daily Mail did not see Van Veen during the evening.

Williams, who is the daughter of "NBC Nightly News" anchor Brian Williams, appears on HBO's hit television series "Girls" as Marnie. Alternately, 35-year-old Mayer released his fifth album, "Born and Raised" in May 2012.

Meanwhile, Mayer has been in a relationship with Katy Perry since summertime. Speculation over the singer's love life comes as no surprise, as Mayer has been linked to several women in the past, including Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Aniston, and Taylor Swift.

Despite his past, the Grammy Award-winner recently said he was "quite happy" about his relationship with Perry, according to Rolling Stone magazine.

"I'm happy in all aspects of my life," added Mayer. "I'm very happy in all aspects of my life."
