Amanda Bynes News Update 2014: Schizophrenia Rumors Denied By Lawyer

Amanda Bynes broke her silence on Wednesday regarding ongoing speculation about her mental health.

Last year the former Nickelodeon star, 27, was hospitalized after months of erratic behavior and at the time fans speculated whether she was suffering from a mental illness. Tamar Arminak, who is Bynes' attorney, recently took the time to address ongoing concerns as the actress continues her post-rehab recovery.

"There has been much speculation about Amanda's medical condition. She has remained silent because she believed it was best to keep her mental health diagnosis private," Arminak told People magazine.

"However, she asked me to dispel certain rumors," she explained. "For the record, Amanda does not have schizophrenia, nor has she ever been diagnosed with it."

On Saturday, Bynes took to Twitter to thank fans for ongoing support after her extended rehab stay. She is currently on vacation in Mexico with her parents Lynn and Rick Bynes, with whom she is living with in L.A.

Bynes enrolled as a student at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Orange County, Calif. Shortly after she was released from rehab. She is said to be doing much better.

"Amanda currently is on zero medication. She's devoted to living her life as healthy as possible. She's never had a history of abusing alcohol or hard drugs, and she's proud to say she's been marijuana-free for the past nine months," Arminak said.

"Amanda is very happy studying fashion and she hopes to one day design her own line," she added.

Bynes posted a series of alarming tweets during her downward spiral last year, many of which were aimed at Canadian rapper Drake. At the time he expressed concern for her well being.

"I don't even know who that is doing that or what that's about. If that is her, I guess it's a little weird and disturbing," Drake told XXL magazine.

The former child has not made a full recovery as yet as insiders reveal she is still being treated as she works towards improving her life.

"She continues to undergo outpatient therapy several times a week," an insider said. "She's still working through the causes of her past bizarre behavior."

Bynes will reportedly remain under her mother's legal care for several months.

"We're so proud of how far Amanda has come," Lynn said of her daughter.
