Amanda Knox Latest News: Lifetime Movie Recounting Trial Airs Tonight
Lifetime’s original movie “The Amanda Knox Story: Murder Trial in Italy” will air Tuesday night on the Lifetime Channel. The film now includes the updated "not guilty" verdict Amanda Knox received yesterday, as well as a brief account of Knox's newfound freedom.
The 24-year-old Knox, played by Hayden Panettiere, was arrested for the 2007 murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher, in Perugia, Italy.
Amanda Knox was sentenced to 26 years in prison along with her ex-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito, who also received a 25-year jail time in 2009.

Knox received her “not guilty” verdict Monday and is expected to land in Seattle, Wash., tonight.
The movie was slated to air in February, but sparked controversy because of its inaccurate portrayal of Amanda Knox, according to her family and her attorneys.
Knox’s lawyers demanded that Lifetime pull the movie and remove trailers because of the ongoing appeals trial at the time.
Lifetime later changed the trailer of the movie.
Italian prosecutors, in the original trailer, said, “Under the angel face, she is capable of anything.”
This has been replaced with Knox saying, “They say that I’m calm. But I’m not calm. I’m scared of having the mask of an assassin forced on to me. … Meredith was my friend. I would never hurt her. My conscience is clean.”
The movie premiere will be followed by a documentary entitled "Beyond the Headlines."
The hour long documentary provides real life footage of the Knox trial – including details concerning the current appeals process being pursued by prosecutors.
The Lifetime movie will air multiple times during the week and will also air on Lifetime’s sister channel, Lifetime Network, Thursday. So far there have been no statements made on whether or not the movie will be followed by a sequel in light of Monday’s acquittal.
The Lifetime network has not confirmed the movie’s premiere in Italy.
