'American Crime' Season 2 Spoilers: Executive Producer John Ridley Reveals Plot Details

The upcoming season of ABC's critically-acclaimed TV drama series "American Crime" is reported earlier to take place in the Midwest and will explore a disturbing incident that happened inside an elite prep school.

Few casting details were later revealed to the public. Among the latest is the inclusion of Andre Benjamin who will play as husband to Regina King's Terri and a "fierce" parent to their son who "becomes entangled in a scandal at an elite private school."

And just recently, a report from TV Line cited an interview of the show's executive producer John Ridley with the people from Variety. The conversation further revealed the premise of the anthology series' upcoming chapter.

As explained by Ridley, Season 2's "central crime will revolve around a high school boy who accuses several players on a championship basketball team at a private school of sexually assaulting him — and taking photos and posting them online."

As it turns out, the storyline will give the showrunners the leeway to explore deeper into the issues of social economics, education, as well as sexual orientation, the site wrote.

"We wanted to take incidents that sometimes in other shows tend to be week-to-week and episodic and not just use them merely as plot points, but really see how they play out with family, how they have a cascade effect over time, and with the community as well," Ridley told Variety.

The executive producer went on to confirm to the media outlet that production for Season 2 will be done in Austin, Texas, despite the drama being set in Indianapolis.

"We wanted a city that could represent America and could represent where we are now, in terms of being of a canvas of America," he said.

"American Crime" Season 2 premieres 2016.
