'American Horror Story: Hotel' news, cast, spoilers: 'Hotel' will be getting no visits from Neil Patrick Harris

"American Horror Story: Hotel" (AHS) definitely has an impressive lineup this season. This would be the first season in which Jessica Lange will not be a part of, and since the show knows that her absence will be blatantly obvious, it seems that they tried to make up for it immediately by getting some big names as regulars for "Hotel." Having AHS veterans such as Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, and Angela Bassett alongside new regulars like Lady Gaga, Wes Bentley, and Matt Bomer is definitely going to keep the hype going for the show. Furthermore, AHS has been getting notorious in its guest stars in the past seasons, and for the upcoming season, it has the likes of Naomi Campbell in its lineup.

In the past months, another big name has been mentioned to supposedly show up at some point in "Hotel," and that would be Neil Patrick Harris, who is slated to have a very creepy role. However, according to a report by TVLine, Harris shared it may not be happening at all. The reason he gave was due to his busy schedule with a new variety show called "Best Time Ever," which is currently being developed.

Harris talked a lot about his new opportunity and confirmed his no-show in the season, saying, "It was a great honor for myself and for [husband] David [Burtka] to be players in Freak Show, but yeah, I'm busy with this show … I think the Hotel is booked, as they say. There's no vacancy at the moment, but I can't wait to see what's going to happen."

However, for fans of the "How I Met Your Mother" actor, it doesn't seem like Harris is closing his doors yet for future appearances, since he has always expressed great enthusiasm in being a part of Murphy's horror drama. For now, it just all comes down to Harris' time availability.

In the meantime, Murphy assured followers of the show can expect more guest stars as the new season of "American Horror Story: Hotel" progresses on when it premieres on Oct. 7.
