'American Horror Story: Hotel' news, cast, spoilers: Kathy Bates on character relationship with Matt Bomer and most disturbing scene in show's history is yet to come

The fifth season of "American Horror Story" titled "Hotel" is on its way. The void caused byJessica Lange's departure is being filled with tons of new characters and actors, as well as seemingly graphic scenes, based on the teasers of what is awaiting fans this season.

One of the interesting character dynamics would have to be between American Horror Story: Hotel (AHS) veteran Kathy Bates and new main actor Matt Bomer who guest starred in only one episode last season. According to Cartermatt, the two would play mother and son. This season, Bates will be playing Iris, Hotel Cortez's manager and mother to Donovan, who will be played by Bomer. Bomer is reportedly going to be the countess' (Lady Gaga) lover and she will be madly in love with him. However, she will infect him with a kind of blood virus that will make him thirst for blood. Although it is confirmed that he will not be a vampire, it can be said that he will possess this similar characteristic.

Apparently, Bates' character would only be working at the hotel to look over his son. The 67-year-old actress shared, "Iris is overprotective with a capital O, especially now since her son is ill. She wants to be there every day to make sure he's all right, and she's very controlling that way." Many hope that her character will stick around until the end this season unlike in the last; however, character fates are always uncertain when it comes to AHS.

Another thing fans can expect from the coming season is a very disturbing scene, and though this is no longer new to the show, Bloody Disgusting reports it to be the most disturbing yet in the show's history. It will apparently be a very explicit sex scene that was pushed far as the show could go. The scene will involve newcomer Max Greenfield, Sarah Paulson, and a disturbing character referred to as "The Addiction Demon."

This demon was already featured in the trailer, where his eyes and mouth seem to be covered with skin, and though not shown, it will apparently wear a conical metal dildo. As to the reason why he was depicted in the latest season, show co-creator Ryan Murphy told Entertainment Weekly that "he is a representation of that and what people go through fighting addiction. It's not done lightly or blithely. I think it's very powerful and strong."

American Horror Story: Hotel will premiere on Oct. 7, Wednesday on FX.
