'American Horror Story Season 5' Cast News, Rumors: 'Hotel' Season Title, Lady Gaga to Join

Singer Lady Gaga recently announced that she will be joining the upcoming season of "American Horror Story" which was officially titled "Hotel." In her tweet, she posted "Make your reservation now. #GagaAHSHotel" with a short video of her wearing an elaborate mask, saying the words "American Horror Story, Season 5." After she takes off her mask, she whispers the season title, "Hotel."

It is now yet confirmed whether the singer will take the place of the series' main cast, actress Jessica Lange in the past four seasons of the series. But past reports indicate that Lange had earlier expressed her interest to leave the show and in January 2015, the show's creator Ryan Murphy tweeted his "thanks" to the actress, seemingly confirming the news. With Lange's resignation, it's highly possible that Lady Gaga will be a main character in the upcoming season.

"American Horror Story" is an American horror television series created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuck. Its first season titled "American Horror Story: Murder House," aired on FX in 2011. All four seasons had regular cast members like Jessica Lange, Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson. Kathy Bates, known for her role in "Misery," was a regular cast member in the last two seasons. The series has received numerous awards and citations from the Emmy's and the Golden Globes, among others.

FX Networks CEO John Landgraf announced that the next season will have "an unusually large reinvention in between Book 4 and Book 5" and that it will definitely be set in present day, as with the odd numbered books of the series.

Plot details have not been confirmed but there a few theories circulating about what the next season will be about. One report in Glamour talks about three theories based on real-life stories in three real hotels. The first hotel mentioned in the report is the World's Fair Hotel in Chicago opened in 1893 and owned by Henry Howard Holmes which he also dubbed as his "Murder Castle." It was said that he murdered 30 of his female employees in the hotel and dissected their bodies for use in medical schools.

The second hotel theory is about the Garden of Allah Hotel in Hollywood which had prominent celebrity guests but was also notorious for mysterious disappearances of some of its occupants. The hotel was mentioned several times in Season 4.

The last hotel mentioned is The Cecil Hotel in Los Angeles, a hotel that still exists to this day but using another name (Stay on Main). The hotel was the site of the mysterious Elise Lam death in 2013 and had notorious serial killers Richard Ramirez and Jack Unterweger as regular guests.
