Casting Crowns won an American Music Award last night for "Favorite Artist" in the Contemporary Inspirational Category.
The award was presented off air, but for the Christian band it's their second win in six nominations.
The winner was determined through online voting as they beat out other top Christian artists like Toby Mac and Third Day.
Casting Crowns' new album Come to the Well made its debut at the top of the charts upon its release, Oct. 18.
It hit number one on the Billboard 200, one on the Billboard Christian chart, and three on the iTunes album chart. The band's fourth studio release sold 99,138 copies in its opening week. Lead single off the album Courageous also reached one on the Christian Billboard giving them their second number one hit in six months, with the last being "Glorious Day."
"Courageous" also features a music video, released on June 14.
Casting Crowns has plenty of promotional help with sold out tour dates, lead singer Mark Hall's new book release, a lead feature in Billboard Magazine, a shout out from celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, and of course 2 million Facebook fans.
The band is currently on a 40-city tour, “Come To The Well,” in promotion for the record. The album features 12 tracks.
Casting Crowns will tour with fellow Christian artists Sanctus Real, The Afters, and Lindsay McCaul.
Casting Crowns has sold 4.5 million records and has won a Grammy and 23 Dove Awards.
The band has had eight charting singles.
