“He’s from there and my parents live there, so it’s been my second home since I was very young,” Smart told Us Weekly.

“The Butterfly Effect” actress wore a Carolina Herrera gown during her nuptials, and was surrounded by eight bridesmaids wearing navy Ann Taylor dresses. Smart wore jewelry by designer Neil Lane including a 6-carat diamond ring and platinum diamond earrings and bracelet.

Oosterhouse got his start as a carpenter on TLC’s “Trading Spaces,” and now hosts his own home improvement show on HGTV. In 2008, Oosterhouse appeared on HGTV’s “Red Hot & Green,” where the carpenter employed eco-friendly materials for earth-friendly living.

Smart, named 2004’s “Women with Organic Style” by Organic Style magazine, works with the Humane Society as well as the Environmental Media Association. Also, she was a speaker for the Heal the Bay organization.

Because of their shared passion about ecological issues, the newlyweds reportedly met during a green charity event last fall, and were together only a few months before Oosterhouse proposed.

A source close to the couple told Us Weekly, “He’s an eco-carpenter; Amy drives a hybrid and is the greenest girl I know. They are perfect for each other.”

“I think he’s an incredible man on so many levels. He’s so kind, so respectful, loving,” Smart said of her husband. “He’s got so many qualities that I can’t wait to spend my life with.”

The insider added, “Here are two wholesome, kind, sweet Midwestern types. Neither has sold out and gone Hollywood.”
