Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich Appears on an HTC Smartphone

A picture has surfaced on the internet that shows Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich running on an unknown HTC smartphone.

The image landed on PhoneArena and originated on BGR and the site is claiming that this device's release has not yet been announced by HTC. However, the specs for this upcoming HTC smartphone were leaked with the image.

The picture displays the hardware information screen that lists the specifications on this handset that includes a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, an 8-megapixel rear shooter, 1GB of Ram along with LTE connectivity. The report on the device also claims that it will come with an AMOLED display and runs Sense UI 4.0 on top of Ice Cream Sandwich.

Various tech sites have come to different conclusions on the handset's design. 9to5 Google feels that this smartphone can either be an updated version of a previous HTC device or a brand new one.

PhoneArena stated that the smartphone's backside resembles the back of the Droid Incredible 2. The site feels that there is a possibility that this image could be a picture of the Droid Incredible 3.

The smartphone in the picture hold an appearance that is quite similar to most smartphones in HTC's line-up.

The company announced its devices that would be receiving the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade in March on its Facebook page yesterday.

The HTC Sensation, Sensation 4G and Sensation XE will get the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update at the end of March.

Other HTC smartphones will also upgrade to ICS, but that will not happen until later this year. The HTC Rezound, Vivid, Amaze 4G. EVO 3D, EVO Design 4G, Incredible S, Desire S and Desire HD are all expected to be included in the second round of updates.
