Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich Now on 15.9 Percent of All Android Devices
Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich is now running on 15.9 percent of all Android devices, according to the latest data from Google.
Just last month, the software was only installed on 10 percent of Android devices, so it has seen a signification jump in the past four weeks.
This boost in ICS can be attributed to the recent release of smartphones and tablets coming with the software stock as well as Samsung finally issuing the 4.0.4 update to the Samsung Galaxy S2 in the U.S.

Google also recently launched Android 4.1, JellyBean, and it is running on a little less than one percent of all Android devices.
ICS comes pre-installed on the Samsung Galaxy S3, HTC Evo 4G LTE, HTC One X, and JellyBean comes pre-installed on the Google Nexus 7 tablet that launched last month.
Ice Cream Sandwich seems to be growing at a slow pace since it was released in November of last year and is not even close to having one fourth of the market. This could be attributed to the slow roll out of the update for other smartphones in the U.S.
Android 2.3, Gingerbread still dominates controlling 60.6 percent of the market and comes pre-installed on many Android devices including the Galaxy Note (AT&T), Galaxy S2, Galaxy S, and Motorola Droid Razr.
Android 2.2 Froyo is on 15.5 percent of Android devices, Android 2.1, Éclair is running on 4.2 percent, Android 1.6, Donut on 0.5 percent, Android 1.5, Cupcake on 0.2 percent, and Android 3.2, Honeycomb is on 2.3 percent.
Within a year's time, Android 4.0, ICS should become the dominant software for Google, however, for now, Gingerbread still holds most of the market. JellyBean should also receive a significant increase in the next year.
